Some really good progress being made with golf swing over the last couple weeks.

Last week, we focused on creating more depth in the backswing. He previously didn’t have enough depth, which caused the shaft to get out and steep in transition and led to him swiping across the ball through impact. He’s done a great job improving that pattern.

In today’s session, we added a little more lead wrist flexion in transition to help add more pitch to the shaft from P4 → P6 and improve delivery into impact.

The swing is starting to come together nicely in just a few short weeks.

Small adjustments. Better matchups. Better ball flight.

One of the best parts about teaching at Oak Brook GC is getting to work alongside Mike Suhre — truly one of the nicest people I know in the golf business. Great person, great PGA Professional, and someone who genuinely cares about the game and the people around him.

Yesterday we got some work in together and used TrackMan to diagnose a couple things. Mike favors a cut, so we weren’t trying to reinvent the wheel, but his swing direction was getting a little too far left and his swing plane was a little too high. In simple terms, he was getting a little steep and across it.

Our goal was to shallow the swing plane slightly and get the swing direction working a touch more down the line. After digging into it, we found the root cause was a lack of depth in the backswing caused by limited rotation. Once Mike understood the “why” behind it, it didn’t take long for things to click.

I think his exact words on the lesson tee were: “This feels effortless.”

That’s always the goal — making efficient movement feel natural.
