Over the years we’ve run a LOT of tournaments. Open events, big-money events, league events, invitational events… but one thing we’ve NEVER done is run a Fargo-capped handicap event.
This weekend we decided to test the waters.
A Fargo 500-and-under event.
32-player cap.
And before we knew it…
💥 SOLD OUT IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS. 💥
For anyone who has ever run handicap events, you know they’re not for the faint of heart. You’ve got players shooting over their speed, under their speed, people questioning ratings, surprise upsets, and occasionally somebody getting their feelings hurt because the scoreboard didn’t match what they expected.
But you know what?
This event was AWESOME.
The players were respectful.
The competition was fierce.
The spectators were engaged.
The room was packed.
And the support shown to Rack & Grill was second to none.
Most importantly, I felt the event was played in the spirit it was intended—to give Fargo 500-and-under players a fair shot to compete, cash, and have a great time.
Did I have a few players that were borderline? Sure. That’s part of the challenge. Nobody is perfect, and ratings don’t always tell the entire story. I’ll continue reviewing matches, doing my homework, and vetting players the best I can because my goal is simple:
🎱 FAIR EVENTS.
🎱 NO FAVORITISM.
🎱 NO-BS.
As I learn this format and continue navigating these waters, I appreciate everyone’s patience and support more than you know.
Congratulations to our top finishers:
🥇 Wesley Rhoden (Fargo 480) — CHAMPION
🥈 Dallas Hopps (Fargo 458)
🥉 Curtis Smith Jr. (Fargo 362)
These guys earned it.
Truthfully, everybody in the building played great and represented themselves, the game, and our pool community the right way.
So here’s the good news…
🚨 WE’RE DOING IT AGAIN. 🚨
Mark your calendars for August 1st.
We’ll be opening the field up larger, adding MORE money, and making this one even bigger.
If you missed this one, don’t wait around. Based on what happened this weekend, seats won’t last long.
Thank you to every player, every spectator, every supporter, and every staff member who helped make this event a success.
The NO-BS crew appreciates every single one of you.
Until next time…
Keep practicing.
Keep grinding.
And if you’re planning on showing up August 1st…
You might want to start working on that Fargo now. 😎🎱
