CONGRATULATIONS to Mankato Golf Club member Leo Gellert who captured the 34th Annual Florida Amateur Match Play Championship yesterday at Lago Mar Country Club in Plantation Florida.

Leo defeated some of the best amateurs in the US on his way to this presigius victory. This follows what has been an amazing tournament run for Leo after finishing fourth at the 109th Florida Amateur Championship earlier this year and capturing the 78th Annual Krugel Invitational here at MGC in July. This week he will be competing at the 126th Annual U.S. Amateur at the historic Marion Golf Club in Pennsylvania. Good Luck Leo!

The 2026 Mankato Golf Club Championships were contested over two beautiful days and showcased some outstanding golf.

Leading the way was Men's Club Champion Matt Newman, who delivered one of the finest championship performances in recent memory. Matt opened with a spectacular 66 on Saturday and followed it with a 67 on Sunday to finish at 9-under-par, 133—the lowest 36-hole Club Championship score at MGC in many years. The victory marks Matt's second Mankato Golf Club Championship title.

In the Women's Championship, JoAnn Curtis continued her remarkable legacy by posting rounds of 81 and 82 to capture her 10th Mankato Golf Club Women's Club Championship.

The Senior Championships also featured impressive performances. Tim Robinson claimed his fourth Senior Club Championship, while Sandy Carlson earned her third Women's Senior Club Championship.

For our Juniors, Hudson Maus was the repeat boys champion in 2026 with a score of 73 and Griffin Mohr was 2nd with a score of 80.
