This afternoon Kevin and I were walking Rex and Lady through the neighborhood. It was hot. REALLY hot. 🥵
As I was sweating more than I thought possible, I found myself thinking about what a gift it is to simply be able to do this.
To walk.
To move.
To breathe deeply.
To enjoy an evening with people (and dogs!) I love.
We often take these things for granted until they're taken away.
I know people right now who would give anything to be able to exercise, take a walk, or move freely, but injury, illness, or chronic pain has made that difficult.
That's why I believe movement is one of life's greatest gifts.
Just like nutritious food, water, sleep, and fresh air, movement is something our bodies need every day.
And here's something important to remember:
Muscle is one of the greatest predictors of healthy aging.
As we get older, we naturally lose muscle if we don't actively work to maintain it.
What if you started viewing exercise as a gift instead of a chore?
Not something you HAVE to do...
But something you GET to do.
That small shift can change everything.
Today, take a moment to appreciate what your body can do—and honor it with some movement.
Maybe that's a walk.
Maybe it's stretching.
Maybe it's a strength workout.
Just move.
Your future self will thank you.
