The motto for the Lumberjacks and Lumberjills is Respect - Achieve -Lead. Sportsmanship and learning to be a good teammate is a priority for all student athletes as we develop our future leaders. Long we support an “academics first” philosophy which centers on students passing all classes to remain eligible for participation. The term “student athlete” references being a student first and an athlete second. Being successful in the classroom will always be a top priority. Long Athletic Department is to cultivate the following characteristics: ability to work under pressure, developing good time management skills, developing a good work ethic, contributing to the team, learning to handle adversity with dignity, win with humility, and foster the leadership skills necessary to be successful in all aspects of their lives.

Sixto Soto earned his spot at the State Cross Country tournament with a qualifying run at the District Meet today!

Sixto will compete on November 7 at Sun Willows Golf Course.

WAY TO GO LUMBERJILLS SLOWPITCH!!

DISTRICT CHAMPIONS!

The Jills took care of business while defending their home turf to bring home the district crown.

The girls started off strong with a 5 inning run rule victory against Mtn View 20-1. Led by freshmen Paige Gunn going 4-4 with 2 RBIs. 4 Jills had 3 or more hits including Gunn, Zoey Jason, Stevie Jones, and Maddie Childers.

The girls played lights out and Jason was great in the circle only allowing 5 hits and 1 earned run. The girls had 9 extra base hits without hitting a single homerun. Very proud of the baserunning and quality play from all the girls.

In game two (District Championship) the Jill’s took on the Columbia River rapids fresh off their 5-1 victory over Kelso. And the girls hit the cover off the ball beating them 15-1 in 5 innings as well.

Jason got out a bases loaded jam in the first inning without allowing a run. And then the hit parade began. The Jills rattled off 6, then 2, then 7 runs in the first 3 innings. Jason and Avery Byrnes each had 3 hits a piece but the big blast from Stevie jones a grand slam in the 3rd but a dagger in the game and the spirit high in the dugout.

The girls played great and had no defensive error in the game. Very clean and fun to watch.

Ral is off to state next Thursday where they will play Friday and Saturday in Yakima. Girls finish the season 18-1 this fall and excited for the opportunity to bring home some hardware next week.

Maddie Childers named Week 5 WIAA Athlete of the week!

Maddie hit .739 with a 1.739 slugging percentage over a seven-game stretch, totaling 17 hits, 6 home runs and 5 doubles. The sophomore also drove in 23 runs and scored 14 times, leading R.A. Long in both categories during the stretch.

Way to go Maddie!

R.A. Long has a brand-new spirit store, The Lumber Locker. —and it’s being run by our DECA and Advanced Marketing students!

Our students are taking the lead in designing merchandise, building the brand, marketing the store, and managing the business. Every design is student-created, making this a true student-run business experience.
