The Reaction Ball Tournament is back! 🔥

Because the ball is oddly shaped, every bounce is completely unpredictable. Combined with the rule of waiting until the 2nd or 3rd bounce to catch it, you’ve got the ultimate test of athletic reactivity.

We love a good challenge, and we definitely love a little healthy competition. Who’s gonna take the win? 💪🏆

Jake Cormier and Lucia Baril share Athlete of the Month honors in October!

Jake is a longtime Power Source member who has gone from being the little guy in our program to now being one of our most athletic. Now a freshman at St Bernard’s HS, he’s hoping to be a significant contributor to their quest to return to the state championship this winter.

Lucia is new to our program this year. She isn’t the loudest kid in the room, preferring to let her work ethic do the talking for her. Despite battling a few injuries, Lucia continues to improve her speed and strength each month, never making excuses for why she can’t push her limits.

Two very different athletes, but similar in how hard they work, how determined they are to improve, and how enjoyable they are to coach.

Congratulations!!!

If you’ve been around long enough to remember the SPARQ combines from a decade ago, Universal Speed Rating has created the v2 version.

Now the data is relevant for all team sports.

And thanks to advances in technology, the scoring is more accurate than ever.

If you hope to play your sport at the college level or beyond, you’re going to want to be part of this once a year event.

There IS a right and a wrong way to land during the first few strides of a sprint, and very few youth athletes do it well without practice 🏃‍♂️⚡

❌ Wrong: Heel-striking in front of your body/ over-striding (instant braking force).

✅ Right: Striking on the ball of your foot directly under your hips.

❌ Wrong: Less than a maximum effort push back into the ground, causing short strides.

✅ Right: Using hip extension to drive out and up.

Better acceleration mechanics can gain you a full step of separation in just a few yards once you master the fundamentals. 🛑🚀

Your sport coaches are the ones teaching the tactical and technical aspects of your game.

Our job, as performance coaches, is to build the engine AND make sure you don’t break down.

One without the other leads to incomplete development.

Do you need to build your engine this winter?

Message us if you live near Leominster, we are here to help.

Video analysis is a critical part of helping youth athletes understand how to run more efficiently.

It also helps coaches to discover each athlete’s unique sprint style, so we can better train them in the future.

Never before have we had access to such an incredible video analysis tool like this!

Shoot a quick video and upload it into the Universal Speed Rating system.

5 minutes later, we see the 4 most critical elements of their stride, along with a classification on their dominant sprinting style.

We can use this data to determine which exercises are best to help each athlete get faster, and lower their injury risk.

More importantly, we also know which exercises to avoid.

Want to have your stride analyzed?

Message us to find out how!

Strong athletes need more than big biceps 💪

Training functionally through pushing and pulling movements builds strength that goes beyond isolated muscle drills.

Why? Because sports demand more than individual muscles working alone. Athletes need to battle for position, absorb contact, and control their movements while keeping that strength. Pushing and pulling helps achieve that.

Train strength in a way that carries over to real life actions💥

We are thrilled to be hosting the first USR Showcase in Central Massachusetts next month!

Here’s what’s unique about this event…

The showcase itself provides you with a verifiable athletic ranking you can share with scouts and coaches to increase your profile.

But we also want you to leave the event knowing what you need to do to improve.

Which is why there’s also a 2 hour speed and agility development clinic included in the session.

1 hour to get a true sense of where you are right now.

Then 2 hours to jumpstart your journey towards becoming an even better athlete in the future.

We’re still 4 weeks out, but space will fill up fast!

Use the QR code to register, or message us with any questions.

Hamstrings do A LOT. Let’s talk tension.

The hamstrings are constantly producing and absorbing force through sprinting, cutting, decelerating, jumping, and more. Especially in sports like soccer, track, and hockey.

Building the ability to create, control, and tolerate tension helps athletes handle those demands while supporting knee stability, and decreasing lower body injury risk.

That’s why we integrate training them in many ways.

Your sport demands it, your hamstrings better be ready!
