Scuba.Nu - Regulator Service

Scuba.Nu - Regulator Service Every year we need to get our scuba regulators serviced. Its what you don’t see that keeps you breathing under water.

Divers see the external parts that wear out on a set of regulators; like hoses and well chewed mouth pieces. Each set of regs comes with O rings, filters, washers, clips, and little bits of rubber called high and low pressure seats. All these parts wear over time and need to be replaced. Scuba.Nu is in the Houston TX area serving you out of your local dive shops where you buy your gear.

More vintage regulators in for service today. A Scubapro MK16 and a S550. Both had parts inside that were obsolete by 2010. Both regs and the octo are in great shape. Guess they have been unused for over 20 years. A good service and back to diving.

When cleaning your equipment after a dive, don’t forget to give some attention to your BCD’s inflator. Corrosion and salt can build up till it no longer functions. Take care of all your life saving equipment.

It is with great sadness that we must share the passing of one of our founders and co-owner yesterday, David Bullard. He was SCUBA industry standard for over 45 years having been a Master Service Tech working with many companies, individuals, and groups. He will be missed by many.

Storing your regulators in the attic or garage can expose them to temperature changes that will degrade them over time. This vintage octopus would still be serviceable if not for the heat that cracked the body. The mouthpiece tells the whole high heat story.

Haven’t used your regulators for a while. Before you breathe on them…give them a puff of air to blow anything out of them. It might be more than dust.
