HOMBRE DE TENNESSEE SENTENCIADO A 30 AÑOS DE PRISIÓN POR INTENTO DE TRATA S3XU4L DE UNA MENOR

MIAMI – Un hombre de Tennessee que pagó a una menor en Colombia para que produjera videos sexualmente explícitos y viajó al extranjero para participar en actos sexuales comerciales con la víctima menor de edad ha sido sentenciado a 30 años de prisión federal.

El juez de distrito estadounidense Rodolfo A. Ruiz II sentenció a Ramón Arellano Sandoval, de 64 años y residente de Antioch, Tennessee, a 360 meses de prisión luego de que un jurado lo declarara culpable en febrero de 2026 de intento de trata sexual de una menor e intento de producción de imágenes que involucran la explotación sexual de una menor.

“Ramón Arellano Sandoval se aprovechó de una niña de 14 años en Colombia, le pagó para que creara material de abuso sexual infantil y luego viajó al extranjero para explotarla personalmente”, declaró el fiscal federal Jason A. Reding Quiñones del Distrito Sur de Florida. “La sentencia de 30 años dictada hoy deja claro que la distancia no exime de la justicia. Si utiliza internet, dinero o viajes internacionales para abusar de un menor, lo encontraremos, lo procesaremos y buscaremos la máxima pena federal”.

“Esta sentencia subraya nuestro firme compromiso de combatir la trata de personas y proteger a los niños vulnerables de la explotación”, declaró José R. Figueroa, agente especial interino a cargo de Investigaciones de Seguridad Nacional (HSI) en Miami. “HSI, junto con nuestros socios internacionales, continuará persiguiendo a los ciudadanos estadounidenses que se aprovechan de menores, garantizando que rindan cuentas ante la justicia, independientemente de su ubicación”.

Según consta en los registros judiciales y las pruebas presentadas en el juicio, Arellano Sandoval intercambió miles de mensajes de texto y video con la víctima, quien vivía en una zona rural de Colombia y tenía 14 años en ese momento. A pesar de saber que la víctima era menor de edad, Arellano Sandoval le solicitó repetidamente videos sexualmente explícitos y la obligó a producir material de abuso sexual infantil, a menudo a cambio de pagos electrónicos. Arellano Sandoval también viajó a Colombia para tener relaciones sexuales con la menor.

El fiscal federal Reding Quiñones y el agente especial interino a cargo Figueroa hicieron el anuncio.

La HSI de Miami investigó el caso con la asistencia de la HSI de Bogotá y su Unidad de Investigación Criminal Transnacional (UCIT), así como de la Unidad de Trata de Personas (UTP) de la Oficina de Aduanas y Protección Fronteriza (CBP).

Tonight should have been another proud graduation night at LaVergne High School, and Brent Rager should have been walking across that stage with his classmates. While his chair may be empty, his memory, his spirit, and the impact he made on everyone around him will never be forgotten.

Brent was more than a boxer. He was family to our gym. He showed heart, toughness, respect, and determination.

As the Class of 2026 celebrates tonight, we also honor Brent and remember the young man who should have been celebrating alongside them. We know he’ll never truly be gone as long as his name, his smile, and his memory continue to live on in all of us.

Forever in our hearts. Rest easy, Brent. 🥊💙

To our amazing volunteers your time, hard work, and willingness to jump in and help means everything to us. We couldn’t do this without you.
