The ever elusive Pygmy Seahorse (Hippocampus bargibanti). It’s known for its ridiculous camouflage ability, as you can tell. It measures less than one inch in length or about the size of a grain of rice and hides among gorgonian corals matching the color and bumpy texture to stay hidden! Truly a once in a lifetime find for me. I have some pretty elusive and amazing pictures coming up...things I have never seen in all my dives I’ve done. This is one of my top things to find and photograph…among some others you will see in the near future.

I have to thank my clients (Nigel, Randi, and Kim) who helped shine the lights so I could get these fantastic pictures for everyone to enjoy! The pictures wouldn’t have turned out so well without their strobes to help. I also want to thank my clients for allowing me to be such a nerd with finding all these tiny species. I know they were bored and couldn’t see them with their bare eyes, but the pictures turned out amazing and will remain forever!

Day 3-Verde Island! Verde is all about the beautiful coral reef, the flowing soft corals, and all the nudibranchs! What an amazing day of diving!

The incredibly sought after peacock mantis shrimp (Odontodactylus scyllarus). It’s so crazy to us that they are so rare, but yet while in the Philippines, they are found everywhere living in crevices. Between their complex compound eyes and their club like appendages that produce an extremely powerful punch and their extreme rainbow colors, these invertebrates are one of our favorite finds for sure.

Just wait-we have so many cool creatures we found while diving. This guy was found off of Verde Island!

The Napoleon Snake Eel (Ophichthus bonaparti) is a rare find for us. Usually found buried in the sand with only its head barely protruding out, most divers swim right over not noticing. But not us-we found it and we had a photoshoot. Definitely our best find of the day.
