Looking through the files today and found this note from the Paul Timmerhaus Ski-Lodge in Winter Park, CO.

Not sure of the date, but there’s a reference to Bill Palone in a Colorado Snowsports Museum from a few years ago, as being the roommate of Jack Lindsey, George Engle, and Sam Bulkey, perhaps around the time of their ski school photo from 1948-1949.

Will have to dig a little further to see if any of those guys were wearing Peter Limmer Sr.’s famous ski boots, but at least we know their buddy Bill Palone had a pair!

There’s a reference to Robert Lucas and Bill Palone serving in the 10th Mountain Division 10th Mountain Alpine Club which would have been important to Mr. Limmer as his son Francis Limmer served as well.

Love the ski haus logo, which apparently is now the TimberHouse Ski Lodge in Winter Park. There are some other Winter Park Limmer connections to the Arlberg Ski Club in the 1930’s.

If anyone knows more of more Limmer connections to early people involved Winter Park Resort Town of Winter Park and the historical lodges, we hope to learn more! Oh, and thanks to Bill’s dad for covering the tab!

Leslie Willis had “no interest in purchasing hiking boots,” but sent this beautiful note immediately after reading “The Limmers Make Boots To Last—if You Can Afford to Wait,” in the The Wall Street Journal on November 11, 1974.

Cheers to the Limmer community, people like Leslie Willis, and of course all out there working to “keep mediocrity at bay.”
