Let's welcome back another of our local players as Reed Rheindhardt returns to pitch for the Flash this summer. Reed posted a 3-1 record in 14 appearances for Oakland City, which is fresh off its appearance in the NAIA National Tournament. Reed struck out 23 in 38 2/3 innings. We're excited to have the big guy back on the mound this summer.

The next newcomer to the Flash roster isn't a newcomer to the OVL. While then at Rend Lake College, Dom Davis played for the Hoptown Hoppers in 2024. We gladly welcome Dom to the Flash Family this summer. After transferring to Harding this season, Dom played in 35 games for the Bisons, who finished with a 30-20 record. This season, he platooned at catcher and DH with former Flash standout Collin Helms.

Congrats to our owner for his years of service to South Middle School. Well done Clay! ⚡️⚡️

Clay Bolin, thank you for 22 incredible years of service to the students of South Middle School.

For more than two decades, you have built programs of excellence and set a standard that many others continue to follow. Your leadership, dedication, and commitment to our students have left a lasting mark on South Middle School and our entire community. You are deeply respected, not only for the success of our athletic programs, but for the way you always understood that student-athlete means student comes first.

Throughout your time at South Middle, you have coached state championship teams and modeled what excellence, discipline, and commitment look like. You have also been a mentor to our SMS coaches, sharing your wisdom, experience, and steady leadership in ways that have strengthened our entire athletic program.

You have mentored countless students, encouraged them in the classroom and in competition, and helped shape young people into better athletes, students, and citizens. Through “Athletics Gives Back,” you also found meaningful ways to support classroom teachers and invest in the broader work of our school.

While we are sad to see you step away from this role, we know South Middle will continue to feel your influence for years to come. And knowing you, we are pretty sure it won’t be long before we see you back in the SMS gym or on the SMS field still supporting our athletes and coaches.

Thank you for your leadership, your heart for kids, and the example you have set for all of us. South Middle is better because of you.

You will be greatly missed.

We are less than 4 weeks away from the start of the season. It's time to ramp up our introductions of the 2026 roster. Next up is Princeton's Riken Burkett, who is a sophomore pitcher at Hanover College. Riken has made three appearances on the mound for the Panthers this spring. We are excited to have Riken as part of the Flash Family.

Since so many have reached out after today's accidental fire we just wanted to let everyone know that yes we lost our bus but most importantly no one was hurt and the only damage was to our bus. We want to say a special thanks to all the firefighters at the Henderson Fire Dept that responded so quickly and kept the damage as minimal as possible. Not great timing with the season only 4 weeks away but we'll figure something out to be ready for opening weekend!
