Shark Wave Aquatic Team is proud to be led by a coach who has spent more than 20 years developing swimmers and mentoring young athletes in the Jonesboro community. For over a decade, he has continued to coach many of the same swimmers and families year after year — building lasting relationships, shaping character, and creating opportunities for children to grow both in and out of the pool. That level of long-term commitment, consistency, and investment in this community is unmatched in this discussion.

Throughout this process, SWAT has worked in good faith to pursue a fair and reasonable solution that allows both teams to remain successful and sustainable. We are grateful that the City's Finance & Administration Committee recognized that the most equitable path forward is to continue the agreement that has worked successfully for years — one that provides equal practice space and equal access to a public facility for both teams.

Maintaining equitable access to the city pool is about more than lane space — it is about opportunity. This arrangement helps ensure that children and families who may not be able to afford private facility membership costs still have the chance to participate in the summer swim season, learn lifelong skills, and be part of a positive team environment.

We look forward to finalizing an equitable agreement consistent with the recommendation of the City's Finance & Administration Committee. Most importantly, we want every child in Jonesboro who wants to swim — regardless of background, financial circumstance, or team affiliation — to have the opportunity to swim outdoors at the city pool this summer.
