It's time for the arrows to fly again at the Youth Center!

Crooked Creek Archers is returning for another semester of traditional archery for kids AND adults on Wednesdays. All bows, arrows, targets, and safety equipment included-- just come with sturdy shoes covering your feet and they'll take care of the rest!

KIDS AGE 8-13: Wednesdays, 3:30-5pm
**Please remember that these are REAL bows and REAL arrows, not toys. CCA does not teach kids less than 8 years old, but some kids 8 and up are still not ready to handle the responsibility of handling potentially dangerous equipment safely. CCA asks that parents only sign up their children if they believe they are mature enough to follow directions, stay quiet when needed, and respect safety rules.**

Parents, you can sign your kids up at the Parks and Rec website, HarrisonParks.com. Log into your account, then click on Register and Programs and look for Traditional Archery. Two sections of the Fundamentals class (suitable for beginners OR experienced archers) are scheduled for this fall; the first runs Sept 9 (SOON!)-October 21, and then we'll have another class Oct 28-Dec 16 (with a break for Thanksgiving week). Prior students are VERY ENCOURAGED to return to the Fundamentals class! You'll get stronger and more consistent each time you take it.

For the first time, though, CCA is hosting an fun little Furious Fling mini-class Wednesday evenings for five weeks Nov 4-Dec 9. There'll be less personal instruction and more creative targets, competitions, and "play" in this class! This is only for kids who have already completed at least one of CCA's classes.

ADULTS 18+: Wednesdays, 6-7:30pm
CCA is partnering again with UA Northark's community education department to offer archery for adults. There's a link to their signup page on the HarrisonParks.com's Traditional Archery program page. It runs Sept 23-Oct 28 from 6pm-7:30pm.

Email [email protected] if you would like to learn how to shoot! CCA can do private lessons OR schedule a class if we can find 5-10 teens that are interested.

YOUTH CENTER BIRTHDAY PARTIES: CCA can provide an intro to archery experience for a birthday party for up to 10 kids or adults age 8 and up! Email [email protected] for more information.

Heads up! Volleyballs will be flying all over the place Saturday as we host the return of the Slamfest Volleyball Tournament right here at Creekside Community Center.

Please be aware-- our courts will have to close this evening at 6pm to set up all three surfaces for tournament play. The teams will play all day long from 8am until the brackets are complete! We will reopen the gyms to everyone again on Sunday when we open at 1pm.

Track lovers- your membership card will still get you in the door to walk/run on our track, and the view from above should be entertaining!

As usual for tournaments-- if you can brave the parking lot, you'll often find that the rest of Creekside is sparsely populated. Take advantage of that and come on down!

Signature Court will be closed beginning at 11:00 AM today for maintenance.

The court will reopen at a time to be announced (TBA). We are hopeful that maintenance will be completed and the court can reopen later this afternoon.

EXCITING NEWS: The CCC Gator's been sad about his crumbly icky landing pad, but he and the slide are both getting their landing pads replaced this week! We've got the new ones glued down but now we have to wait for the glue to set up before we re-fill the Kid Zone. We expect to have the kids' area back to normal by the end of the week!

Prepare your picnic baskets!

Any parents excited about a little city park (playground AND splashpad) with attached shady pavilion in a quiet, enclosed space?

We've got sidewalks and rubber play surface to get installed, but the new little splashpad and playground are in their final stages at Equity Bank Sports Complex on Industrial Park Road.

We can't wait for the opening ceremony to share it with you!
