We provide Parks, the Youth Center, City Pool, & Creekside Community Center to our region. All are welcome!

At those facilities, we provide adult and kids' sports and kidcare programs, exercise classes, pickleball group play, archery lessons, and more.

Creekside has a lot of teens here from our Boone County schools to hear a message and enjoy lunch for Red Ribbon Week. We’ve had to block off our usual doorway into the lower gyms to accommodate this event.

Members, if you want to use the lower gyms or the walking track, you can check in (during the event) down at the little entrance with the stairs. Allison is waiting there to scan your cards!

Coming Up SOON at Parks & Recreation/Creekside:

The final session of archery for kids in grades 3-8 begins TODAY at 3pm! There is still a spot available if you have a child who would love seven weeks of Robin Hood/Wonder Woman/Hawkeye/Katniss/Merida training! (click Register/Programs/Traditional Archery at HarrisonParks.com) **Tip: if you've completed an archery class already, check out the 5-week Furious Fling!**

Beginning this week, kids K-3rd grade in our fall basketball league will be practicing on Farm Bureau court in the evenings. Look for them on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 5-8pm. Games for the league will be on Saturdays Nov. 14th through Dec 19, and good news: there is no gate charge and our concession stand will be open those days!

Creekside Aquatics is taking November off from teaching kids' group swim lessons, but private lessons are still available.

TUESDAY, 11/3, we'll have a LARGE group of school kids in from various Boone County schools for a Red Ribbon (anti-drugs) Week celebration from 9-11am. Don't worry-- our classes, the walking track, and the aquatics center will all still be open... but it may be a little loud and rowdy in the Signature Bank court! We'll let walkers enter down at the yellow columns during the event... just meet our staff at the door with your membership card or number.

Coming up fast is our first-ever self defense class Nov 14 & 21! Learn the basics of defending yourself in two two-hour Saturday classes in November. Open to kids (age 4+) AND adults! Cost is just $5 to reserve your spot. Only 15 spots available though, so register asap! (click Register/Programs/Creekside Fun at HarrisonParks.com) Adults, you'll need to accompany your kids to class if they're under 13 even if you choose not to participate.

And finally, we're still taking booth reservations for the first-ever CCC Closet Cleanout event November 21st! Cost is just $10 per 10x10 space. If you're not selling, put it on your calendar and plan to come shop for bargains! (click Register/Programs/Community Closet Cleanout)

Two exciting bits of news this morning!

1) THIS JUST IN: Thanks to a generous donor, our Pumpkin Palooza event on Friday is now FREE to the first fifty people who sign up for pumpkins. (For REAL! Wow!)

The party is tomorrow night, so sign up to claim your pumpkin asap! We have three time slots to choose from between 5:30-7:30pm. Each person can claim one pumpkin, but multiple family members can each sign up for their own. Hurry! Being free means they'll go quick!

NOTE: Creekside membership or a day pass will still be required to enter the building... but signing up for your pumpkin and all the snacks and supplies is free!

2) Crooked Creek Archers just announced that it will hold a no-experience-required Gouhls and Goblins archery shoot on Wednesday, October 28 from 5:30-7pm at our Youth Center! Ten lucky people (ages 8 and up) will get to try their hand at traditional archery and shooting at a special Halloween array of spooky creatures. No experience required, and it's only $10 per person for ninety minutes of fun and challenge.

We've got so much fall fun coming up here at Parks and Recreation! Look at your options:

FRIDAY 10/23: Pumpkin Palooza Painting Party
All ages welcome! Reserve your white pumpkin and come enjoy painting it. We bring the snacks, the music, the fun, even a facepainter, and we clean up the mess... you just come make a memory and a decoration for your home! (Frugal Tip: paint on one side this week, turn it around and carve next week!) ($5 per pumpkin; Under Creekside Fun in Register)

SATURDAYS NOV 14 & 21: Self Defense Mini-Class
Join 8th degree black belt and Grand Master Tracey Harper for two two-hour classes to give you knowledge and usable techniques to defend yourself if you're ever attacked. "This is my way of giving back to the community," Creekside member Stacey Tucker explained. "Bad things can happen to anyone, and everyone needs to be able to defend themselves." ($5 for BOTH classes; under Creekside Fun in Register)

WEDNESDAYS NOV 28-DEC 16: Crooked Creek Archers Lessons
Kids age 8-13: Seven weeks of focused, personal instruction will have you slinging arrows with confidence! Crooked Creek Archers transforms the Youth Center into an archery range and teaches you all the tips and tricks you need to know to start hitting those bullseyes with a traditional bow and arrows. You got this! ($125 for seven weekly sessions; under Traditional Archery in Register-- hurry! Only five spots left!)

WEDNESDAYS NOV 4-DEC 9: Crooked Creek Archers' Furious Fling
If you've already taken your first class with Crooked Creek Archers, return for five fun fast-paced weeks of fun! The Furious Fling will include the CCA's unique array of creative and ever-changing targets. Come have some fun with your archery skills! ($75 for five sessions; under Traditional Archery in Register. Only nine spots left... all ages welcome!)

NOV 14-DEC 19: K-3rd Kids' Basketball League- Final Chance!
Kids in grades K-3 can sign up individually or as a team to compete in our Saturday league running Nov 14-Dec 19 (with a break for Thanksgiving weekend). Late signups are still running through November 1... don't miss out on the fun! ($55 individual or $300 per team; under Kids: Basketball K-3rd in Register)
