Harrison Goblins Set to Renew Historic Rivalry with Mountain Home in 80th Meeting

HARRISON, Ark. — One of Arkansas’ oldest and most storied high school football rivalries returns to center stage Friday night as the Harrison Goblins welcome the Mountain Home Bombers to F.S. Garrison Stadium for the 80th all-time meeting between the longtime foes. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The rivalry has become a staple of Northwest Arkansas football, with the two schools meeting every season since 1947 without interruption. The series is recognized as one of the state's longest continuously played rivalries and the second-oldest uninterrupted rivalry in Arkansas high school football.

Harrison enters the contest with a 1-0 record following an impressive season-opening victory over Branson, Missouri, while Mountain Home arrives at 0-1 after a narrow loss to Farmington.

Under first-year head coach Van Paschal, the Goblins opened the season with a 27-16 road victory powered by a dominant rushing attack. Harrison piled up 318 rushing yards in Paschal’s flexbone offense, led by senior slotback Killian Eddings, who rushed for 153 yards and a touchdown on just nine carries.

Senior fullback Sky Lee and senior defensive lineman Aspen Stephens added to the ground game, combining for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Senior quarterback Gavin Jones also found the end zone on the ground and connected with senior wide receiver Braden Bryant on a 30-yard completion.

The Goblin defense was equally impressive in the opener. Stephens, junior defensive lineman Denver Woehl, and senior defensive lineman Beckett Mulanax combined for 17 tackles, six tackles for loss, two quarterback hurries, and four forced fumbles. Harrison recovered five total fumbles, with Xavier Frieze recovering two while Levi Everett, Paul Styles, and Caleb Melendez each recovered one. Lee paced the defense with 12 tackles, while Tayton Robb added eight stops.

Mountain Home is led by sophomore quarterback Conner Gentry and features several experienced playmakers, including running backs Nazsier Johnson and Cobe Dotson, wide receiver and defensive back Gus Wilber, and lineman Ford Coleman. The Bombers' lone touchdown in last week's 12-7 loss to Farmington came on a 50-yard interception return by Wilber.

While Harrison owns a 56-20-3 advantage in the all-time series, the Bombers have captured the last three meetings under head coach Steve Ary, setting the stage for another intense chapter in one of Arkansas high school football's premier rivalries.

Friday’s matchup will feature two teams looking to build momentum early in the season, with Harrison seeking its second consecutive victory under Paschal and Mountain Home aiming to spoil the Goblins' home opener.

HARRISON, Ark. — It was a total program sweep for the Harrison High School volleyball program on Thursday night as all four Lady Goblin teams secured victories against Clinton inside Goblin Arena.

From the middle school ranks to the varsity squad, Harrison controlled the tempo from the opening serve to secure consecutive wins across all levels:

Varsity: Harrison swept Clinton in straight sets, dominating the match 3–0 (25-9, 25-17, 25-13).

Junior Varsity: The JV team earned a swift 2–0 victory, taking the sets 25-14 and 25-21.

9th Grade: The 9th-grade team maintained early control to earn a 2–0 win (25-15, 25-11).

8th Grade: The 8th-grade team set the tone for the evening with a strong two-set win (25-21, 25-13).

Harrison High School Set for Busy Afternoon as Lady Goblins Host Clinton

HARRISON, Ark. – The Harrison Lady Goblins will be back in action this afternoon as they welcome the Clinton Lady Yellowjackets to the Harrison High School Arena for a full slate of non-conference volleyball matches.

The action will get underway at 4:30 p.m. with the 8th grade Lady Goblins taking on Clinton. The 9th grade teams will follow, before the high school junior varsity and high school varsity squads close out the evening's competition.

Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Lady Goblins as Harrison hosts Clinton for an exciting afternoon of volleyball. All matches will be played in the Harrison High School Arena.

Harrison Goblins Golf Team Dominates at Cooper’s Hawk, Secures First-Place Finish

MELBOURNE, Ark. — August 31, 2026 — The Harrison High School Goblins varsity boys golf team delivered an impressive performance on Monday, taking top honors at the multi-team stroke play event hosted at Cooper's Hawk Golf Course in Melbourne.

Facing off against a competitive field of high school programs from across the region, the Goblins posted a team gross score of 291 (+3) to secure a decisive first-place finish. Harrison finished 25 strokes ahead of runner-up Mountain Home, who placed second with a team score of 316 (+28).

Brody Knapp led the field, shooting a tournament-best 69 (-3) to take first overall. He was backed by strong performances across the lineup, including Berkley Knapp, who shot an even-par 72 to finish second overall, as well as Isaac Freeman and Ty Willmott, who both posted solid rounds of 75 (+3).

Goblins Topple Pirates in Border Battle, Give Van Paschal First Win
Harrison rushes for 318 yards, forces five fumbles in 28-16 win over Branson (Mo.)

BRANSON, MO — Harrison opened the Van Paschal era with a 28-16 Border Battle victory over Branson (Mo.) on Friday night, powered by 318 rushing yards and a defense that forced five Pirate fumbles.

Branson grabbed an early 3-0 lead on a 34-yard field goal, but the Goblins answered immediately when Killian Eddings broke loose for a 90-yard touchdown run. The Pirates reclaimed the lead, 10-7, on a 46-yard scoring run by Blake Weber before Harrison took control.

Aspen Stephens scored on a 28-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to give the Goblins a 14-10 halftime lead. Harrison added to its advantage in the second half as Gavin Jones scored on a 2-yard run in the third quarter, and Sky Lee found the end zone from 5 yards out in the fourth to make it 28-10. Branson added a late touchdown pass, but the two-point conversion failed.

The Goblins finished with 348 total yards to Branson’s 154. Eddings led the way with 153 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries. Stephens added 69 yards and a score, while Lee rushed for 48 yards and a touchdown. Jones contributed 21 rushing yards, a touchdown, and completed his only pass attempt for 30 yards.

Defensively, Harrison’s turnover production proved decisive. Sky Lee led the team with 12 tackles, while Tayton Robb added eight. Beckett Mulunax recorded seven tackles, three tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and a blocked kick. Xavier Frieze recovered two fumbles, and Paul Styles and Caleb Melendez each added a recovery.

The victory improves Harrison’s all-time record against Branson to 7-2 and keeps the Border Battle trophy in Goblin hands for another season while giving Paschal his first career win as Harrison head coach.

Paschal Era Begins as Goblins Renew Border Rivalry with Branson

The 2026 season begins with a new face on the Harrison sideline and a familiar opponent on the schedule as the Goblins travel to Missouri tonight to take on the Branson Pirates at Pirate Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. as Harrison opens the Van Paschal era against a program the Goblins have traditionally enjoyed success against.
Harrison enters the season with a 6-2 advantage in the all-time series, a rivalry that dates back more than six decades. The Goblins won the first three meetings in dominant fashion, posting victories of 12-0 in 1964, 44-13 in 1965 and 66-12 in 1966 before Branson picked up its first win in 1967. Harrison added victories in 1983 and 1984 before the series resumed in recent years.
Branson defended its home field with a 23-7 victory in the 2024 meeting, earning its first win in the series since 1967. Harrison responded last season with a 34-27 victory to reclaim bragging rights and set the stage for another intriguing matchup between the border rivals.
Tonight's contest marks the debut for Paschal as Harrison's head coach, adding another layer of intrigue to an already competitive rivalry. Paschal currently ranks eighth among Arkansas coaches in career victories with a 266-138 record. Harrison becomes the 10th head coaching stop for the 63-year-old veteran, whose previous stops include Palestine-Wheatley, Brinkley, Sheridan, De Queen, Monticello, Barton, Wynne and Heber Springs. His most notable success came at Monticello, where he guided the Billies to a 14-0 record and the Class 4A state championship in 2009. That team was the only undefeated team in Arkansas that season.
Season openers often feature a mix of excitement and uncertainty, and the Goblins will look to establish their identity early while beginning a new chapter under one of the state's most accomplished coaches.
