Paschal Era Begins: Veteran Coach Takes the Reins of Harrison Football
HARRISON — A new chapter has officially begun for the Harrison Goblins football program as the Harrison School District approved the hiring of longtime Arkansas coach Van Paschal as the 23rd head coach during a special school board meeting Monday night. The move signals a fresh start backed by a wealth of experience, proven success, and a career defined by consistency across the Natural State.
Paschal arrives in Harrison with an impressive résumé that spans decades on the sidelines and stops at nine previous schools across Arkansas, making Harrison the tenth chapter in a coaching journey built on adaptability and success. Over the course of that career, Paschal has piled up 264 victories, placing him among the more accomplished high school coaches in the state’s history. Along the way, Paschal has guided teams to two state championships, first capturing a title at Monticello in 2009 before returning to the pinnacle of Arkansas high school football in 2025 with Cross County.
The hiring provides the Goblins with a steady presence and a track record of building winning programs. Paschal’s career includes 36 years as a head coach, highlighted by deep postseason runs and a consistent ability to develop competitive teams. His teams have also made 29 playoff appearances, along with numerous conference championships, underscoring a commitment to success across multiple programs and classifications.
