Botmasterz FRC 9255

Botmasterz FRC 9255 We are an all-girls, high school FIRST robotics team. Grateful to our sponsors for this opportunity. We welcome ALL girls from all area high schools.

Our mission:
"Our all-girls robotics team is dedicated to fostering a supportive and empowering environment where diversity, sisterhood, and creativity thrive. We aim to challenge stereotypes, embrace leadership opportunities, and inspire everyone to explore the limitless possibilities of robotics, teamwork, and innovation." We are an all-girls, high school FIRST robotics team that began in Januar

y of 2023. We are a community-based team, whose founding sponsor is the Grosse Pointe branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). Why all girls? Females are grossly underrepresented in STEM careers, representing only ~27% of the workforce? The Botmasterz are committed to expanding a future of equal opportunity — and equal rewards — in the workforce. For this to happen, it is critical to remove gender-based barriers that keep girls from pursuing their dreams and reaching their potential. Robotics is one way we can do this; together. We believe in learning with an eye toward tomorrow’s economy: The fastest growing, most well-paid sectors require Science, Technology, Engineering and Math expertise. Robotics also helps our team develop soft skills, such as problem solving, self-directed learning, communication, leadership, collaboration and creativity. How you can help:
We can’t do this important work alone. If you would like to support our team, please donate to the (501(c)3) Grosse Pointe Foundation of Public Education and name “Botmasterz High School” in the description: https://gpfpe.org/donate/.

BIG NEWS!

Today we launched the Grosse Pointe Robotics & Innovation Center (GPRIC) fundraising campaign.

For years, we've built robots in classrooms, hallways, garages, cafeterias, basements, and borrowed spaces.
We've learned, competed, solved problems, and grown as students and teammates, but we've always wished for a place of our own.

We're working to help create a permanent home for robotics, innovation, and student opportunity in the Grosse Pointes.

Imagine what students could accomplish with:
• Dedicated build space
• Practice fields
• Secure storage
• Engineering and programming resources
• Opportunities for even more students to participate

We believe every student deserves the opportunity to learn, build, innovate, and succeed.

If robotics has made a difference in your life, your family's life, or our community, we'd love your support.

• Donate if you can
• Tell your friends and family
• Help us spread the word

🤖 What a night on Kercheval! 💜
Last night, after 6 on Kercheval, we truly lived out our mission:
"Our all-girls robotics team is dedicated to fostering a supportive and empowering environment where diversity, sisterhood, and creativity thrive. We aim to challenge stereotypes, embrace leadership opportunities, and inspire everyone to explore the limitless possibilities of robotics, teamwork, and innovation."

We brought both our tank drive robot and our swerve drive robot and gave hundreds of kids (and quite a few adults!) the chance to learn the difference, operate them, and even play catch with the robots. The smiles, laughter, excitement, and curiosity were incredible. Watching young people discover what is possible through STEM is exactly why we do this!

One of the highlights of the evening was the opportunity to spend time with Senator Kevin Hertel and personally thank him for helping secure a grant that is supporting the opening of the Southeast Michigan Robotics & Innovation Center (SEMRIC). His investment in students, STEM education, and workforce development is helping us create new opportunities for young people across Southeast Michigan as we work to establish a permanent home for robotics and innovation.

We were also joined by our amazing middle school FTC Team 17975 Botmasterz, proving once again that robotics creates a powerful pipeline of future innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders.

Another special moment was recognizing our founding sponsor, Aauwgp Branch Grosse Pointe MI Branch of AAUW, for their 10 years of unwavering support. As we celebrate our own 10th anniversary, we were honored to present them with a commemorative banner and team photo as a small token of our gratitude. Their belief in our girls and our mission has helped make a decade of impact possible, and they absolutely loved the surprise.

And yes... we couldn't help but enjoy being set up directly across from the mechanical bull! 😂

With thousands of people attending, we met so many new families, students, community leaders, and supporters. We shared our passion for robotics, challenged stereotypes about who belongs in STEM, and gave countless people a chance to experience robotics firsthand.

Most importantly, we showed what happens when girls are empowered to lead, innovate, build, teach, and inspire.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, drove a robot, tossed a game piece, asked questions, or cheered our students on. Events like this remind us that the robot is just the tool. The real outcome is confident young people who are discovering their potential and realizing they can make an impact on the world.

Here's to the next 10 years of inspiring, empowering, and building the future. 🚀

🚀✨ What an AMAZING way to wrap up our summer STEM workshop series! ✨🚀

Yesterday was Space Day, the 4th and final workshop in our summer STEM series, and our students were absolutely incredible!

Throughout the day, students explored careers in aerospace, designed their own rockets, learned about chemical and stored energy, tested magnetic and fizzing rocks, drove robots, and launched cup rockets. Best of all, they were engaged, curious, and excited to learn from start to finish.

Watching students ask questions, experiment, create, and discover is exactly why we do this. Their enthusiasm, creativity, and excitement make these workshops just as much fun for us as they are for them.

Programs like these remind us that we are truly living our mission: inspiring the next generation of innovators, engineers, problem-solvers, and leaders.

A huge thank you to all of the students, families, volunteers, and supporters who helped make our summer STEM workshops such a success.

📢 GPP residents: Keep an eye out for registration information for our upcoming STEM sessions at Lavins Activity Center on:

Our 3rd STEM Workshop was a splash! 🌊
Students explored marine biology, tackled an oil spill cleanup challenge, drove robots, and designed boats to test buoyancy and strength. The kids had an absolute blast while learning science and engineering concepts through hands-on activities. And our 'lil sister team FTC Team 17975 Botmasterz joined the crew today.

Tomorrow (8/13/26) is our 4th and final workshop, and we still have a few spots available! Here's the registration link https://forms.gle/txvnphTWtwQYkNW36

Spaghetti, paper, tape, skyscrapers, and a robot... what could go wrong? 😄
Today was our second STEM Day, where students stepped into the shoes of architects and structural engineers. They designed buildings, built towers, tested their creations, and learned how engineers solve real-world problems.
And of course, the highlight was taking control of Robot Katie and playing robot catch! 🤖⚾
The kids learned a ton, laughed even more, and showed off some amazing creativity and teamwork!

We still have 2 more workshops left, 8/12 & 8/13 9a-12. The link to sign up is in the comments.

Thanks Grosse Pointe Public Library for always having the books we need! Thanks to Grosse Pointe Public School System & Principal Parravano for letting us borrow a few classrooms.

🌎🤖 What an AMAZING day at our Environmental STEM Workshop!
Today, students explored what it means to be an ecologist and environmental engineer, investigated environmental challenges, participated in a nature scavenger hunt, tested water filtration systems, and even had the opportunity to drive and play catch with our robot!

Throughout the day, students asked questions, made observations, tested ideas, and discovered how engineers use creativity and problem-solving skills to make the world a better place.
One of our favorite moments was watching students connect the objects they found in nature to real environmental problems and brainstorm solutions just like professional engineers.

The robot is always fun... but today reminded us that curiosity, critical thinking, teamwork, and creativity are the real goals of STEM education.

A huge thank you to our team members for designing such a great workshop! Thanks to Grosse Pointe Public School System & Principal Parravano for allowing us to host at South, and thanks to the custodial crew who who helped make today a success!

There's still room in our remaining STEM workshops! Each day features a different engineering focus and hands-on activities designed for students ages 6+.
