Throwback but still one of the top trout spey patterns we have ever fished. Don’t sleep on Fred’s BAM BAM.

The BAM BAM Minnow (Bad A$$ Minnow) is a trout spey and swing pattern developed on the Missouri River by Fred Telleen somewhere between 2020 and 2021. Tied on a 90 degree jig hook for less hang-ups, this pattern is meant to swing deep during the winter months (between October and April) to imitate a minnow struggling to survive the cold water temps and hungry trout lurking for easy meals. The first year this fly hit the bins, it was nearly impossible to keep it stocked and quickly became THE fly to swing on the Missouri.

Wrapped a run of meetings in Texas and slid down to Rockport for a quick redfish fix. Weather wasn’t doing us any favors, but we still found a few reds willing to play. We also got to hang with the crew n celebrate their four years in business. Shout out to them.
