🔸Push hands - tui shou 🔸
Pushing hands serves as a gateway for students to grasp the martial aspects of internal martial arts (內家 nèijiā). It encompasses various essential elements like leverage, reflex, sensitivity, timing, coordination, and posture. By engaging in pushing hands, individuals learn to let go of their instinctive tendency to resist force with force. Instead, they acquire the ability to yield and redirect force effectively.

Through this practice, students develop the capacity to respond to external stimuli using techniques they have learned. Additionally, training with a partner allows them to cultivate ting jing, which is the power of listening and sensing the direction and strength of their partner's intentions. Pushing hands establishes a mutual agreement between students to explore the defensive and offensive movement principles of their martial art. It enables them to learn how to generate, coordinate, and deliver power while also developing skills to neutralize incoming forces, all within a safe training environment.
