Proud to announce that we are now an affiliate of and support their mission of empowering veterans in Arizona through the art of jiu-jitsu. 🇺🇸

Similar to We Defy, Veterans Breakthrough provides veterans scholarship opportunities ensuring that cost is not a barrier to accessing the benefits of jiu-jitsu training-NO DISABILITY RATING REQUIRED. While We Defy supports veterans on a national level, Veterans Breakthrough focuses on veterans in Arizona.

It is our hope that affiliations with these two wonderful organizations enable veterans in the area to embark on a transformative journey towards a renewed sense of purpose and outlook on life.

Great night! Congratulations to the 8 who leveled up tonight. Without a doubt these promotions represent hours of hard work, sacrifices, and growth on and off the mats.

Proud of each of you for continuing to show up and push through challenges. My promotions are always earned and tonight was a reflection of the effort you’ve all put in day after day.

Thank you to the training partners, our family, and all the other friends and families that showed up to support. We’ve built a great community and the journey isn’t possible without all of you.

Busy but good weekend for the team!

Ezren, and .camryn all showed great skill and composure in their pankration fights, all bringing back🥇! Thank you to and for another fantastic event! 🔥

Nick and Uly represented well bringing back🥈and🥇. Nick got bumped up to the adult division again but his hard work in the training room showed on the competition mats. ran it, going undefeated all day, and stepping in for coaching duties. Love to see the support for each other. 🙌🏽

Noah Lowenthal competed in his first jiu-jitsu tournament and went 2-0 to bring back🥇in gi! I’m not surprised. The kid is focused, determined, and works hard in class; not to mention the grappling chops of his granddad and dad. Well done, kid! 💪🏽

We missed the champ .33 in Temecula this trip but he and his brothers ( and Arien) have been absolute studs on the wrestling scene. Keep up the impressive work, Lara boys! 👊🏽

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to and for hosting a women’s-only seminar with 3 female black belts. Events such as this build the community and we look forward to the next one. 🙏

THANK YOU to the coaches, training partners, and families who show up, support, and make all of this possible. I always say it’s not about the medals, it’s about the experience, growth, and people along the way…but it doesn’t hurt to bring a few home and to see the work in the training room pay off. Grateful for all of you. On to the next! 🤝🤙🏽

Another great night of youth pankration this past Saturday at HFC 9 in Temecula. Thank you to for having us back out. We had a blast and can’t wait for the next event.

Camryn started off the night against an older and higher ranked competitor, losing a close split decision. Just a minor setback in a bright future.

Ezren stepped into the cage for the first time and didn’t get to show the hard work he put in. He gave up 7lbs and quite a bit of height, which is tough at his age. We’re looking forward to seeing him put his skills to the test against someone closer to his size.

Arien also stepped into the cage for the first time. He had a dominant performance and collected his first submission victory.

Cole had a back-n-forth battle in his debut and got caught in the last round. A few adjustments and I have no doubt he’ll be back stronger than ever.

In the main event, King won the belt with a submission victory. While it might have been considered an upset-as he went up against one of the more experienced fighters-we’re not surprised. King kept his head down and put in a lot of extra work; glad to see it pay off.

I always say it’s not about winning or losing, it’s about the experience. These events are great opportunities for young fighters and we appreciate the ability to come out and showcase our team. Excellent work, everyone. Proud of you all. Thank you to all the coaches, friends, and family that made the drive out to support the boys and to those that watched the live stream.

If you are a veteran, or know a veteran, that will benefit from the therapeutic healing though jiu-jitsu, please check out this wonderful organization, and we’ll see you on the mats! 🇺🇸

The boys from Arizona showed up and showed out last night in Temecula, California. Big congrats to .wingy33 and .camryn on getting the Ws in their mma/pankration debuts! Both guys consistently put in the work so I’m not surprised by the results but I’m definitely proud of each of them for putting their skills to the test in the cage!

The decision to jump into this event was only made a few weeks ago so I want to give a special thank you to all the coaches and teammates at home and for helping King and Cam get ready. To the friends and families that made the drive out - appreciate your support!

Thank you to and for a great show! We look forward to coming out again.

BIG shout out to the kids and teens that competed today at NAGA. You all have been working incredibly hard and it showed. I appreciate the work you’ve been putting in and am proud of you!

I also want to give a special thank you to who sponsored some of the kids. Traveling and competing is expensive and we appreciate the help in providing this invaluable opportunity to the students.

Nueve and diez. Tonight I awarded my 9th and 10th black belts to Rey Salceda and Ralph Cody.

When someone says, ‘he’s a natural’ I think of Rey. His game is smooth, his transitions are slick, and he’s very well-rounded. Don’t get me wrong, though, the guy works just as hard as anyone and when he’s in the room, you know it’s gonna be a solid night of training. He earned this a while ago; congratulations, Rey!

Ralph is only the 5th student to go from white to black with me. He started the journey a little bit later than most, but is a testament that if you’re consistent, train hard, and just keep showing up, you can master the art. From working hard to taking risks to keeping an open mind and continuing to learn new things, Ralph is a role model to other students. Congratulations, Ralph, well-deserved.

Not to be overshadowed by the black belts, Andrew Westmoreland, Raul, and Benji earned their blue belts tonight. Jiu-jitsu is more than just techniques. It’s about being humble, taking risks, being willing to grow, and enjoying the journey. These three exemplify the lifestyle and I’m excited to continue to watch their road to black belts.

Thank you so much to all the friends and family that joined us tonight. It’s a long journey and these guys wouldn’t be able to do it without the support from each of you.

I’ve said it before; we’re in a small, desert community and I really appreciate the friendships and positive vibes with the schools in the area. Thank you Mata Jiu Jitsu and Taproom Jiu Jitsu for coming out! Special shout out to Journeyman Grappling for making the trip out from Washington.
