A huge congratulations to our 2014 Boys Black team who finished in 2nd place in their division at the Virginia Cannon Cup. They traveled to NOVA and competed against some very strong teams and went 1-0-2 to advance out of the group stage. Down to only 2 substitutes, the odds were against them in the final, but they battled hard until the final whistle. Great way to finish out your season, boys!

Our academy teams closed out their season competing at the NC Fusion Cup in Greensboro and Winston Salem over the weekend. This gave an opportunity to be challenged against some very strong teams and put into practice skills we worked on over the course of the season. A huge shoutout to our 2014/15 Girls Black and 2015 Blue teams who both finished in 2nd place in their respective divisions!

We finished off the last night of Academy training with our traditional Academy World Cup, and the excitement was palpable. We held two mini world cup brackets. In bracket A, Ivory Coast and Ecuador both advanced from the group stage with 2 wins and a tie, won their semifinals, and faced off in the finals, where Ivory Coast prevailed 2-0 to be crowned champions. In bracket B, Canada and Qatar battled in the group stage with Canada taking a 2-0 win. However, both squads advanced from the group stage, and won their semifinals to face off with a rematch in the finals. Qatar got the last laugh, winning 3-2 on a golden goal to be crowned champions.

Even though they didn't make it to the final, it was a fun night for our other teams from Germany, Curacao, Scotland, Brazil, Morocco, Haiti, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Switzerland, Portugal, Uzbekistan, Columbia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
