The shop will be closed today while we finish up construction, get the new micro mini ramp installed, and clean up the shop.
For the Fall Festival this past weekend, we built a mobile micro mini ramp so we could bring skateboarding out into the community and introduce more people to what we’re trying to do with the Wood Pusher Program.
The Fall Festival was an awesome turnout, and we had a great time. We also saw a lot of interest in skateboarding, especially from people who had never really been on a board before.
One thing that stood out to us was just how much easier a smaller ramp made it for first-time riders to get comfortable and start having fun. That’s a big part of why we decided to bring the ramp inside and make it a permanent part of what we’re doing.
One of our goals is to make skateboarding more accessible to everyone. That means creating a place where beginners can learn without feeling intimidated, and building smaller obstacles that are easy to learn on but still fun once you get the hang of them.
We’re excited to get this thing finished and hope everybody comes by the shop to check it out once it’s ready.
And, as always, we have to give credit where it’s due. A lot of people have donated materials, time, and support to help us get this far. This ramp, and everything else we’ve been able to do with the Wood Pusher Program, would not have been possible without that help.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed and continues to support what we’re building here in Fitzgerald.
