Farmington Athletics is proud to announce that the 2000 Farmington Lady Cardinals Softball State Championship Team will be recognized at this year’s Farmington Hall of Honor Banquet, along with the 2005 State Championship Team.

The 2000 Lady Cardinals made history by capturing the first softball state championship in Farmington High School history, finishing an incredible season with a 25-2 record.

Led by Coach Randy Osnes, a member of this year’s Hall of Honor induction class, the Lady Cardinals were dominant in the circle and outstanding defensively throughout their championship run. But what truly separated this group was its tremendous team chemistry.

With a senior-laden class providing outstanding leadership, the Lady Cardinals represented Farmington High School and the Farmington community with pride. Their hard work, determination, and commitment to one another not only resulted in a state championship but also helped establish the standard for generations of Lady Cardinals who followed.

More than 25 years later, the 2000 team holds a special place in Farmington history as the group that brought home the school’s first softball state championship and helped lay the foundation for the championship tradition Farmington Softball continues to enjoy today.

This year’s Hall of Honor Banquet will provide a special opportunity to celebrate two of Coach Osnes’ state championship teams, as both the 2000 and 2005 Lady Cardinal State Champions will be recognized during the evening.

We encourage all players, coaches, managers, families, and others associated with the 2000 championship team to join us as we recognize this historic group alongside the 2005 State Champions.

The banquet will be held Wednesday at 6:00 PM at Cardinal Arena.

As part of the 2026 Farmington Hall of Honor Induction Ceremony, we are excited to recognize the 2005 Farmington Lady Cardinals State Championship Softball Team!

The 2005 Lady Cardinals were coached by 2026 Hall of Honor inductee Randy Osnes and captured one of the championships that helped establish Farmington softball as one of the most successful programs in the state. Fellow 2026 Hall of Honor inductee Dara Clark-Beasley was an integral member of that championship team and was selected to the All-State Tournament Team that season.

🥎 A Tradition of Excellence

Farmington Softball has made 10 State Championship Game appearances, winning five State Championships:

🏆 State Champions: 2000, 2005, 2011, 2024 & 2026
🥈 State Runner-Up: 2001, 2002, 2003, 2018 & 2019

The Lady Cardinals have also reached the State Semifinals six additional times — 1998, 1999, 2004, 2007, 2010 and 2021.

That means Farmington Softball has finished among the final four teams in the state 16 times, an incredible tradition spanning nearly three decades!

This year, we want to bring part of that history back together. If you were a player, coach, manager or otherwise associated with the 2005 State Championship Softball Team, we would love to have you attend and be recognized during the ceremony. Please help us spread the word to former teammates, coaches and families!
