If you are on Black Hills Energy budget billing GET OFF THAT PLAN NOW (and brace yourself for a whopper of a bill when you do). I just closed an account that I've had with them since they came in and bought AWG and in closing it out discovered it is not actually averaged or levelized billing (as many utilities offer), but an arbitrary amount they accept to continue your service while accruing a balance of what you actually owe to hit you with when you close out the account. This was confirmed by a BHE customer service rep I just spoke to after getting hit with a final bill that was MULTIPLE HUNDREDS of dollars after having service for years and dutifully paying the $53 each month indicated on the amount due. Yes, your monthly bill does indicate (buried on the 2nd or 3rd page among a list of fees, charges, and adjustments) what your ACTUAL debt is if you know where to look and what you are looking at, but this is a predatory practice by definition. BHE is an absolute trash organization that is designed to bilk its customers. Protect yourself from these thieves!

Last night we lost a member of our Rising Phoenix family. Personally, I’m happy to have gotten the chance to know Darin to the extent I did, and know that he will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and love are with the Morvant family today and will remain in the time to come as they mourn and remember a father and husband loved and lost.

As many of you know, in addition to teaching martial arts, I am also a state certified and licensed fi****ms, and concealed carry instructor. In the past, I’ve mainly taught privately or in association with private ranges. That changes this month with the establishment of Rising Phoenix Firearm Instruction.

Going forward RPFI will be holding scheduled fi****ms instruction classes ranging from beginner to advanced level in both handguns and rifles, beginning with an introduction to handguns class November 20.

This will be an introductory level class regarding the various types of handguns, their function, loading and unloading, basic maintenance, operation, and of course, firearm safety. This class will not involve live ammunition and is intended as a classroom setting, introduction to handguns. Class fees will be $40 and limited to the first 12 enrolled.

Additional classes will be announced in the coming weeks again including introductory, beginner and advanced pistol and rifle courses as well as both basic and advanced Arkansas Concealed Handgun Carry License (CHCL) courses.
