As we get older, you naturally lose muscle, bone density, and mobility… if you let it happen

Everything is a choice. Choose to become weaker, have more aches and pains, have a higher fall risk, and not enjoy life to its fullest. Or choose to do things to prevent that from happening.

2-3 hours a week is all it takes to maintain and even improve muscle mass, strength, bone density, mobility, coordination, and ultimately increase your ability to be independent and keep doing the activities you love.

It’s never too late to start

Only have 20 minutes to train? No problem.

This is an example how even with limited time and/or equipment you can always find a way to get in a solid workout instead of using it as an excuse to skip. Building habits starts one decision at a time.

Here are 3 complexes of varying levels of difficulty with varying levels of equipment.

Prior to starting I did 3 minutes on the rower to warm up. You can jump rope, jog, anything to get your blood flowing. This follows an every minute on the minute format with 1 minute of rest in between each 3 exercise round. For example, set a timer for 1 minute intervals. Complete exercise 1, however many seconds left is rest. At minute 2 start exercise number 2, however much time is left being rest. Start exercise number 3 at minute three, resting whatever time is left in that minute plus an additional minute. Complete 3-4 rounds depending on time. Set up, warm up, and the actual workout should take about 20 minutes.

The beginning clips were from my last set of this and I was pretty well smoked and struggling to complete reps. This definitely isn’t the goal of every workout, but you can either go hard or go long, but never both.

At Webb Human Performance Farmington Hills We Believe In Training to Improve Your Daily Function. Mundane things we take for granted like carrying in groceries, going up the stairs, getting up and down off the ground, yard work, etc.

If you’ve noticed some of these simple tasks getting harder as you age you’re not alone. The good news is we can help. One of the most common phrases I hear in the gym from our members is “you know, {insert task} has gotten so much easier since I’ve started here”. We measure success not only by weights lifted or workouts completed in the gym, but by quality of life and ability to do your favorite activities outside of the gym as well.

If you are tired of simple tasks becoming harder, hit the link in my bio or send me a message today to learn how we can help!

One of the biggest mistakes people make in the gym..

Doing the same weight for the same amount of reps on an exercise every single time they do it.

This is a lack of progressive overload. Progressive overload is means making an exercise progressively more challenging over time. This progressive challenge is what makes your body build more muscle, gain strength, build stronger bones, and so on and so forth. Otherwise everything stays the same because there’s no reason for your body to adapt.

There are a lot of methods of progressive overload, but the 2 most common methods are increasing the weight used for an exercise or increasing the amount of reps done.

However, knowing how much and how quickly to progress and exercise depends on a lot of factors, which is why having a knowledgeable and experienced coach is so beneficial.

If you want to get the most out of your training and progress safely and effectively, click the link in my bio or message me today to start a free trial.

Here’s a small tip that makes a big difference…

There’s a few things that people can often do better with on their Kettlebell swings, one of the main ones is getting started on that first rep.

This tip I picked up over the years has been a great teaching tool to help people get set up on their Kettlebell swings without any wasted reps
