🚨 Parents and Athletes: College Camp Season is Here
As both a coach and a parent of an athlete went through the process, I have seen first hand how overwhelming camp season can feel for families trying to make the right decisions.
Not every college camp is the **right** camp!
One of the biggest mistakes I see this time of year is families signing up for camps based on big names, hype, or social media instead of fit, readiness, and purpose.
Here is the truth:
Just because a camp is big does not mean it is best for your athlete.
As a coach, I have worked with many athletes who benefited tremendously from the right camp environment. As a parent, I've experienced the investment families make with camp fees, travel, food, hotels, and time away from home. What I learned is being intentional matters.
Before you spend money on camps, ask these questions:
✅ Is this school a realistic fit academically and athletically?
✅ Has this program shown any real interest?
✅ Is my athlete truly ready to compete and be evaluated there?
✅ Will they actually get quality reps?
✅ Does this camp match their position, level, and recruiting goals?
Athletes need to understand this too:
Every camp is not about getting an offer on the spot.
Some camps are about evaluation.
Some are about exposure.
Some are about learning where you really stand.
If your athlete shows up out of shape, unprepared, technically sloppy, or without a plan, that camp can become an expensive lesson.
Parents, do not feel pressured to chase every camp.
Be strategic.
Athletes, do not confuse attendance with opportunity.
Opportunity comes when preparation meets the right setting.
We believe in helping athletes train with purpose, prepare the right way, and make better decisions about their development and recruiting path.
The goal is not just to attend camps.
The goal is to show up ready when the right opportunity comes.
