Did you know your body actually burns calories just by digesting food? That’s the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF) — and it’s one of the reasons that what you eat matters just as much as how much you eat.

🥩 Protein = higher calorie burn during digestion
🥦 Whole foods = more energy required to process
🍩 Processed foods = minimal TEF impact

We focus on building habits that work with your body — not against it. Train hard, eat smart, and let your metabolism do the rest 💪

Introducing our June Client of the Month: Trent! 🥳

Trent has been a client with TRF for about 4 years and has trained at just about every TRF location! Ever since joining, he has been roped into the various fitness challenges (Muscle Mayhem and Healthy Habits) throughout those years, and continues to come back! 😁Trent joined as he and a business partner were looking to do something outside of work that would build both teamwork and discipline.

When asked, "What is the single biggest benefit or result you've seen since working with TRF?" Trent responded with, "If I had to pick one, it’s consistency. I’m logging 90–95 workouts per year for the last 3 years. More broadly, TRF shifted how I think about taking care of myself—not just workouts, but nutrition, recovery, and sustainability." He also mentions "The structure works. Two 30-minute sessions per week is something I can realistically sustain. If it required more time, I probably wouldn’t still be here. Beyond that, it’s the people and the environment—I trust the team, feel comfortable there, and it’s a place I actually want to show up to."

His favorite exercise is the last one of the workout, knowing that he is done for the day 😂. He shared that his least favorite exercise is wall squats (I guess we'll be seeing more of those in Trent's program moving forward!😉).

Outside of training, Trent works in his family business, the supply chain side of school foodservice - a 'glorified lunch lady' as he describes it!

Something to note about Trent:
"I’m definitely not the typical person you’d expect in a gym setting. I’ve dealt with back issues and periods where I’ve had to step away and rebuild through PT and recovery. So the “4 years” includes a lot of ups and downs.
I’m also not naturally a very social person, but if you asked people at TRF, they’d probably say the opposite. That really comes down to how comfortable I feel in that environment and the level of trust I have in the team.
I’ve been recommending TRF to friends and colleagues for a while now. It’s a great fit for people who don’t want a loud, crowded, or intimidating gym—just a focused program with good people, efficient workouts, and real results."

Thank you for your loyalty and trust, Trent! It's clients like you that make our job so easy and worthwhile! 😁💪🏻

Strength training isn’t only about being proactive with your health —
It’s protective, preventative, and preparatory.

You’re not just training for today.
You’re training for bone density, muscle longevity, injury resistance, and a body that supports you for decades to come.

That’s not a workout.
That’s an investment.

Train Hard. Train Brief. Train Right. 💪

Slow down to get stronger 💪

Strength training isn’t about throwing weight around — it’s about CONTROL.

Slow and controlled movements increase your time under tension, meaning your muscles work harder throughout the entire exercise instead of relying on momentum.

What does that do for you? 👇

✅ Builds more muscle strength and stability
✅ Improves mind-to-muscle connection
✅ Helps perfect form and technique
✅ Reduces risk of injury
✅ Creates better joint control and mobility
✅ Makes lighter weights more effective

Anyone can move weight fast. Real strength comes from controlling it.

That is why we focus on quality reps over rushed reps because the goal isn’t just to lift heavier — it’s to move better, feel better, and stay strong long term.

Muscle doesn’t grow by accident.

It grows from intentional reps, appropriate load, and recovery that matters.

That’s hypertrophy—done right.

Strong bodies aren’t built by only training the muscles you can see 👀

Every muscle in your body has a purpose. When you train ALL muscle groups — not just chest, arms, or abs — you create better balance, strength, posture, and performance both in and out of the gym.

✅ Strong glutes & hamstrings protect your knees and lower back
✅ A strong back improves posture and reduces pain
✅ Abdominal training creates stability for EVERY movement
✅ Balanced muscle development helps prevent injuries
✅ Full-body strength improves daily life, sports, and longevity

Skipping certain muscle groups can lead to imbalances that eventually hold you back.

Don’t just train for aesthetics. Train for strength, function, and longevity.

As routines shift and schedules open up, summer is the perfect time to help your kids build healthy habits that last a lifetime. Strength training isn’t just for adults—it’s one of the best ways for kids and teens to grow stronger, more confident, and more resilient.

We focus on:
✅ Building a strong foundation of muscle to support growth and prevent injury
✅ Teaching proper technique, discipline, and body awareness
✅ Boosting confidence both in and out of the gym
✅ Instilling life skills like goal-setting, consistency, and accountability

Strength training helps kids learn that progress takes effort—and that hard work pays off. Those lessons carry far beyond the weight room… into sports, school, and life.

Let’s make this summer about getting stronger—physically and mentally. 💥
