F2P Performance

F2P Performance F2P is a facility that primarily trains high school and collegiate athletes who are serious about improving their performance on the field.

We focus on improving an athlete’s overall athletic ability for their given sport, training them to be more efficient and faster in all aspects of their game. We train male and female athletes that compete in team and individual sports. We also train adults who compete in competitive athletics as well as those who are looking to improve their general fitness level. Programs are designed individual

ly for each specific athlete based on their strengths, weakness, and goals. We first look at the way the athlete is moving, making sure it is efficient, and then move into adding strength. In the end it’s about teaching and educating the athlete on how to increase their performance.

Often get criticized for trying to reinvent the wheel. Just cause it’s an exercise you haven’t seen before doesn’t mean it’s a new wheel. It’s a wheel with greater tread. I always have a direct reason for why I’m doing a particular exercise. You share it with others and they can help develop it as well. I created this exercise (at least hadn’t seen it before) a few years back. Never thought of it for assessments until partnering with when their staff was looking for lateral power assessments and this is what we came up with utilizing the tendo. Knowing the velocity capabilities of your athletes is a game changer in programming for sports. Often times it is only done in the sagittal plane (straight up and down). Add VBT to different planes and see what happens!

Got this message from one of my college kids this morning. Trust me he was nowhere near this at the beginning of summer. He was really struggling when showed up. We took a step back, got back to the basics of getting his body to move like it does on the mound and look at what happened. Keep in mind over the summer no pitching coach and no gun used. I gave little feedback the few times I saw him throw. Good things happen when you trust the process and stay out of your head!

Are you a rotational athlete or coach? Want to improve front leg movement capabilities? Look for ways to place tension on the hamstrings on all directions. Remember tension handled is stored energy! Here is our simple progression to do just that, at all different angles just like you have to do in rotational movements.

This simple text I got yes a lot. Yes, I’ve working with this athlete for 9+ yrs, many of my athletes are long term. Confidence to jump again. She plays volleyball (setter) so athleticism and jumping ability is going to play a high role. When this athlete went to college she lost 2 inches on her vertical. She come back for when she was able too again it back, then she leave and lose it again. This was first summer she was back full time and I’m proud were we got her for the season coming up. Sometimes I think strength coaches for get what their purpose should be for athletes. It’s not necessary confidence in the weight room, it confidence for their sport.

So wait, using the formula of getting into the weight room to get more athletic and explosive in baseball movements, coupled with high level coaching yields to PR’s even coming back from surgery? Who would of thought. I’ll tell you who

Getting stronger and adding more mass does help to a degree. However, getting better a special exercises enhance performance much more. Not getting better. What do your specialty exercises look like?

Train the way you play only if you know what work on, problem is most trainers don’t care that much and just look to have more fun or make “harder”.

All ways great getting messages like this. One of our newer tennis athletes that does a combination of in person and remote training with us. What are the keys? Attention to details, focus, enthusiasm in the process from the athlete and coach are just a few.

What goes into becoming a better athlete for your sport? Jump training should be one method you use. Why?
1. It’s a display of power (how much and how fast can you put force into the ground)
2. Is an excellent tool to analyze ones movement (how does the athlete create, absorb, and transfer forces)
3. Allows you to create multiple plans of movement and thus forces for your athlete to react to.

For the people that know the above individual guessing you wouldn’t think he could look like this...guess how we got there...commitment and direction.

A little overview of what we look at when developing our individual programs for our athletes. I truly believe most athletes and coaches don’t know what can be changed with training, and with the development of knowledge in this ever fast growing industry of performance training most athletes are being left behind. What to look, analyze, and develop goes much deeper that this short 4 min video. But, you be rest assured we are doing it!

Want to build speed for any sport in the weight room? It all starts with training the posterior chain. Here are two of our favorite exercises to do so.
-
1️⃣ 1 Leg ECC Glute Bridge. It’s a great tool to build the eccentric strength in the hamstrings. When talking about eccentric strength remember that equates to storage of energy.

2️⃣ Step Up Jumps w/ Back Distraction. It’s an excellent tool to teach the athlete to drive forward instead of up when using Step Up variations.

We like pairing these exercises together in a complex with our more advanced athletes. In less experienced athletes we keep the separate.

Challenge me, I dare you? does it, and I love it. For the past 7 years this girl just shows up and works. Thankfully for me she had a lot of athletic potential to start with and all I had to do is a little craving to make the pieces fit for her goals. When you train to be athletic for your sport, others come easy. You don’t have to play multiple sports, multiple sports come to you when you know how to move. Hence, she develop into a D1 volleyball player and javelin thrower. Oh, and this little invite now to tryout out for USA Bobsledding in Lake Placid. 28.3 in vertical and 45 lb pull ups by 3, yeah she has a lot of the basic qualities checked off!
