If you’ve spent any time in Eagle River, there’s a good chance you’ve crossed paths with the Kirby family. Through sports, church, and community involvement, they’ve always been the kind of family that shows up for others.
Now, we’re asking our community to help show up for Rylan.
Rylan Kirby has officially qualified for the 2026 CrossFit Games in San Jose, California—an accomplishment achieved by only 20 teenage boys in the world.
The CrossFit Games are the highest level of competition in the sport of CrossFit. Athletes from around the globe spend months competing through multiple stages in pursuit of an invitation. This season began with the CrossFit Open, a worldwide competition involving more than 200,000 athletes.
Rylan finished 1st in the world in the 16-17 Boys division during the Open and continued his incredible performance through Quarterfinals and Semifinals!
What makes this accomplishment even more remarkable is that Rylan only began seriously training CrossFit a year ago.
When he started, the goal was simple but ambitious: qualify for the CrossFit Games.
Rylan is much more than a CrossFit athlete. He is a follower of Christ, a loving son and brother, a hardworking student, and a talented hockey player. Earlier this year, he helped Team Alaska 18U capture the Pacific District Championship, proving his dedication extends far beyond one sport.
Throughout this journey, Rylan has been supported by his family, coaches, training partners, and the incredible community at CrossFit Iron Refined, where he trains under Coach Shelby Fields, owner of CrossFit Iron Refined.
Over the past year, Rylan and Coach Shelby have spent countless hours training, traveling, competing, and preparing for this opportunity. We are proud to see him represent not only our gym, but the entire Alaska CrossFit community on the world stage.
Your donation will help offset the costs associated with competing at the 2026 CrossFit Games, including:
• CrossFit Games registration fees
• Airfare to and from San Jose, California
• Hotel accommodations
• Transportation and meals during the event
• Travel expenses for both Rylan and Coach Shelby throughout competition week
Every contribution, no matter the size, helps make this opportunity possible.
If you’re unable to donate, we would be incredibly grateful if you would share this fundraiser and help spread the word.
Thank you for supporting Rylan as he represents Eagle River, CrossFit Iron Refined, and the State of Alaska at the 2026 CrossFit Games.
See you in San Jose.
