Cycle North Carolina

Cycle North Carolina Organized and fully supported bicycle tours in the state of North Carolina. In 2004, CNC introduced it's first 3-day Spring Ride held annually in April.

In 1997, North Carolina Amateur Sports, the North Carolina Division of Tourism, the North Carolina Department of Transportation and Capitol Broadcasting Company discussed the idea of starting a fully supported cross-state bicycle tour in North Carolina. Two years later in 1999, the Cycle North Carolina "Mountains to Coast" fall ride began its inaugural trek across the State of North Carolina. Sinc

e then, CNC has attracted participants from all 50 States and 8+ Countries, stopped overnight in more than 100 North Carolina towns, traveled more than 7,000 miles on the scenic back roads of the state and passed through more than 670 North Carolina communities. Cycle North Carolina has been voted "Best Biking in America" by the League of American Bicyclists and selected as one of the best events in the United States. This event offers 1, 2 or 3 days of cycling with various mileages to suite all ages and skill levels. All routes are loop rides and fully supported with rest stops, bike mechanics and event support vehicles. The event has been renamed the Coastal Ride. In 2014, CNC introduced the first Mountain Ride, held in August annually. The format mirrors the Coastal Ride, offering loop rides, rest stops, bike mechanics and event support vehicles. Cycle North Carolina is hosted by North Carolina Amateur Sports, a 501 (c)3 non-profit charitable organization.

Day 5 of our Mountains to Coast test ride was another great day on the road! πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈβ˜€οΈ

After several days of hills and rolling terrain, the team was more than happy to see the landscape start to flatten out a bit. There’s no slowing down, though β€” the crew is already back in the saddle and headed toward Manteo for Day 6! We can't wait to hear about today's ride and see what they discover along the way.

Before hitting the road this morning, several of our amazing Weldon host partners stopped by to send our test ride team off and share a little more about what riders can look forward to during their overnight stay in October.

Weldon will offer our riders a unique experience along the banks of the Roanoke River, with beautiful scenery, local hospitality, and plenty of opportunities to explore one of North Carolina's most historic communities. From the welcoming campsite atmosphere to the chance to connect with fellow riders and enjoy award winning whiskey from Weldon Mills Distillery, it's sure to be a memorable stop along the route.

And don't worry about those trains that pass through town - we'll have plenty of ear plugs available at Rider Services! πŸ˜†πŸš‚

A windy day didn't stop our test riders from having a great time out on the route today! πŸ’¨

Fun fact: Our team does more than just coordinate with the NC Department of Transportation on planned construction projects along the route. We're also constantly on the lookout for potholes and road hazards. Throughout the year, our route staff and route markers report issues they spot to NCDOT so they can be addressed before our riders hit the road in October.

Check out the video to hear directly from the team about their Day 3 experience! πŸ‘‡
