At mile 13 of a 50-mile race, Steven Doran had a long way to go—and, as he tells it, just about everything going wrong.

A dead headlamp, soaked layers, and an empty water supply had turned his Laurel Highlands Fall Classic into a much tougher morning than expected. Casey thought he might be done.

But dry clothes, food, warmth, and some help from the aid station crew got Steven moving again. The borrowed Akron Rugby shirt came with one additional condition: we do not DNF in rugby gear. 🏉

On this episode of The Hobby Jogger, Steven shares how he found running after quitting drinking, made the leap into ultras, and found support from people who wanted to see him finish.

The “unicorn shoes” turned heads. The ride divided opinions. 🦄

Four WeeViews runners put the Skechers AERO Elite through speed sessions, long runs, and race day and came back with different takes on this $225 racing shoe.

Jenna finished a 20-miler without her usual late-run slowdown. Scott recorded his fastest 5K and half-marathon times of the year during training.

Colleen enjoyed the spring at faster paces, but felt unsteady during easier miles and downhill running. MaryAnn needed more support than the shoe provided.

Their experiences give runners plenty to consider, from the snug fit and lightweight feel to the narrow platform underfoot.

With a 16:15 5K to chase and a toddler who loves stroller miles, Patrick keeps himself plenty busy.

Patrick started running middle school cross country to get in shape for other sports, but he grew to love running in college. A marathon he entered on a whim went well enough to inspire more marathons, and even a stint in Ironmans.

Today, the Westfield, Indiana, runner is chasing his 5K PR from eight years ago, with plans to take a shot at a Boston qualifier next year. But first, he’s adding a different kind of challenge to his race calendar: hosting and competing in his very first ultra, a Taco Bell 50K! 🌮

As for his dog? One mile was adventure enough. During a race, Patrick had to carry him across the finish because he was scared of the arch. Proof that race-day nerves come in all shapes and sizes. 🐾

Give Patrick a 👋 below! What’s keeping you coming back to running lately?

With the TCS New York City Marathon almost here, four WeeViews runners share what it’s really like to take on 26.2 through the five boroughs.

Their experiences include years of anticipation, tough climbs, volunteers who made a lasting impression, and enough memories to make a short review feel like an impossible assignment. (Aaron needed more words. We respect that.)

Big bounce. No plate required. 👟

The Diadora Corsa brings a light, lively ride to easy miles and faster workouts alike. After 30+ miles, WeeViews reviewer Abby found plenty to enjoy in this flexible trainer—even though she usually prefers a firmer, stiffer shoe.

But how does all that bounce pair with a snug fit? And what does early foam compression mean when the ride still feels responsive?

Swipe for the specs, pros and cons, then read Abby’s full review through the link in our bio for the details on fit, grip and who might enjoy the Corsa most.

30 liters of storage. But how does it run? 🎒🏃

A bigger pack means room for extra layers, more food and adventures that stretch beyond a few hours. But does it also mean more bouncing?

WeeViews reviewer Martin tested the Rab Veil XP 30 on demanding mountain routes and faster outings with lighter loads. What surprised him most was how well it adapted: roomy enough for long mountain days, with a fit that felt closer to a running vest.

His review covers comfort, storage, compression and the quirks worth knowing before heading out, including rear pole storage that’s tricky to reach while wearing the pack.

A five-minute final mile, record-setting debut, and a whole host of reasons to celebrate Chicago. 🏙️🏅

The 2026 Chicago Marathon gave us plenty to talk about:

🔥 Hawi Feysa defended her title in 2:13:33, breaking away from Sharon Lokedi in the final mile. Lokedi’s runner-up finish of 2:14:07 shaved more than three minutes off her personal best.

⚡ Amos Kipruto won the men’s race in 2:01:09, a personal best that ties him for fifth on the all-time list. After runner-up honors here last year, he returned to claim the top spot.

🇺🇸 Emma Grace Hurley made her first marathon count: 2:20:47, seventh overall, top American woman, and the fastest marathon debut ever by an American woman. Clayton Young also finished seventh despite a hamstring injury, leading the American men in a personal-best 2:05:23.

Beyond the elite results, runners brought months of preparation, first-marathon hopes, comeback stories, and finish-line feels to Chicago’s streets. Congratulations to everyone who took on 26.2 this weekend!

Ever spent a nighttime run fiddling with your light just to see where you’re stepping? 🔦

Jenna knows the struggle. During a previous nighttime half marathon, she had to hold her light at just the right angle to see the ground. With two more night races coming up, she tried the Olight Oclip 2 Pro and Oclip 2 Ultra.

Her favorite features? Strong clips that stay put, adjustable heads to direct the beam, and plenty of lighting options for after-dark miles. They’re also compact, rechargeable, and useful beyond running—like searching for the gel that disappeared under your car seat. (Jenna’s still looking for hers.)

The tradeoffs? a $49.99–$69.99 price tag and controls that take some practice.

Read Jenna’s full review to see whether one of these little lights could brighten your running routine. 👇
