The forecast for Weds June 10th is not hopeful for a bike ride.
“Showers in the morning, then a period of strong thunderstorms in the afternoon. Damaging winds, large hail and possibly a tornado with some storms. High around 60F. Winds ENE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 90%.”

If the forecast improves, we’ll send out a new post. Meanwhile, the ride is canceled for June 10th.

Thank you to everyone who came riding last week. If you missed last week's ride you missed out on a ride that started cold and got colder. Let’s ride that same ride Weds. 3rd, only with the forecast in the mid to low 70’s and less wind.

We'll start at the SkiHut Adventure Center on Grand Ave (8550 Grand Ave, Duluth) across from Spirit Mountain’s lower Chalet entrance. There is a new gravel parking lot to the left as you turn onto the street off of Grand Ave. We ask that you park there and leave the spots in the main parking area open for customers of SkiHut and Burnett's Dairy. We meet around 5:45p.m. and leave at 6:00 p.m. We will bike 10 miles out to the Hemlock Ravine overlook and turn around there. Folks that have been biking a lot already may choose to continue on to Carlton and use that as the turn around point, that is totally fine. If you are just starting out your summer riding and are intimidated by a 20-mile ride, not to worry. We do mainly "out and back" and if you head up the trail, get to 5 miles and then turn around for 10 total, that is also fine. Really! Everyone is at different fitness levels and we welcome every one! All bikes are welcome as well. Road bikes, gravel bikes, Ebikes or mountain bikes are all welcome.

Some reminders of mandatory gear: helmet, a bike that is in overall good condition with good brakes, a spare tire tube and a way to put air into your tire. If you have a flat, we will be there to help you get back on the trail. That is what is nice about "out and back" routes, we will always be coming back your way to help out if you have problems. Come to the SkiHut early to buy a tube or any other gear you may need. A water bottle is nice, based on the temps or snacks if you generally like bringing them. Last week, a thermos of hot tea would have been appropriate.

Some folks go out after the ride and extend the "social" aspect of the ride; all are welcome to that.
