🚨 MEMBER HIGHLIGHT: NICKY VEDIA 🚨
Meet Nicky Vedia, a powerhouse in our 6:30am class and a proud CFD member since 2014! After over a decade of showing up, she has some incredible wisdom to share about the power of consistency, community, and mental toughness.
We asked Nicky to share the highlights of her 10+ year journey:
🧠 On Mindset & Recovery
"The biggest non-scale victory has to be learning how to truly take care of my mind and body. CrossFit teaches you so many incredible things—strength, skill, grit—but the one that changed everything for me was never skipping recovery. Scoring a best time RX on Grace means absolutely nothing if I can't pick myself up the next morning and get back in the gym. That mindset shift is everything."
💼 Gym Confidence vs. Real Life
"The biggest motivator to walk confidently through life is actually the act of showing up—especially on the days you don't want to. When you've survived a brutal WOD on one of those days where everything in you said don't go, everyday challenges feel a lot more manageable. I walk into hard situations at work or at home knowing I've done hard things before."
👥 On the CFD Community
"The people, without question. These aren't just gym friends—they're people who know your name, cheer you on when you're struggling, and celebrate your wins like they're their own. You can't manufacture that. And they will also hold you accountable in the best way possible. We never let our gym best friends Irish goodbye."
🤯 Debunking the Stigma
"CrossFit has a reputation. Some people have heard it's dangerous, too extreme, or only for elite athletes. But CrossFit is whatever you need it to be. It's not about becoming a Games athlete. It's about longevity. It's about showing up for yourself, for decades. Lately? The bike has become a full-blown obsession I never saw coming. Never say never in CrossFit—that's the lesson."
🏋️♀️ Favorite Movements
"Back squats have my whole heart. Cleans are my go-to movement as well—there's something deeply satisfying about moving heavy weight well. But lately I've been introduced to this thing called... core work. And I really do not want to talk about it. I am not okay. Moving on."
⏰ Why the 6:30 AM Crew Wins
"I walked into CFD looking for fitness and walked out with a second family. For that, I am forever grateful. The people in that class have become some of my longest and most genuine friendships.”
