Whether you’re a weekend warrior or a daily commuter, nothing ruins a ride faster that a flat tire. Think of a flat-kit (or bike repair kit) as a first-aid kit for your bicycle, a compact collection of essential tools helping you effortlessly get back on the road after an unexpected flat occurs.
We commonly see people walking through our doors holding their bike after experiencing a flat on Heritage Trail with stories of long walks back to the car or waiting for a ride on a hot day. With a few simple tools riders can have the power to continue their ride!
WHY HAVE A FLAT-KIT?
Self Reliance is Power
Having the ability to fix your own flat after riding over a shard of glass or thorn means you don’t have to cut your ride short. This means avoiding waiting for a ride or a walk back to the car.
Save Your Wheels
Not all bike components are cheap to replace. A few blocks riding with a flat can cause irreplaceable damage. A flat kit can save your gear and your wallet!
Help Me Help You
Whether you experience a flat and someone stops to assist you on the trail or you stop and help someone else, it’s beneficial to have the right supplies. Even if you can’t change a flat yourself (YET), it’s nice to have the right tools so a fellow rider can help.
Compact and Lightweight
The perfect flat-kit has never taken up less space or weighed so little. Modern technology has made everything you need fit in a small saddle bag. Not to mention tubeless tires might fix the flat for you!
Worry Less, Explore Further
Once you know how to fix a flat you gain more confidence to be more adventurous, take that new trail or go a little further. Being prepared is key.
