Listen to what the commentators are saying šš„
Pitching isnāt about striking everyone out. At the highest level, everyone is good and hitters are smart. Itās about beating hittersāchanging speeds, mixing locations, spinning the ball, and staying one pitch ahead.
Confidence matters. No matter who youāre facing or how you feel on the inside, you have to trust yourself and compete.
Did I miss spots? Yes.
Did I give up 0-2 hits? Yes.
Did I have days where I couldnāt throw a strike? Absolutely.
But I kept showing up. I kept working. I kept getting stronger mentally and physically.
People get so fixated on throwing 70+, chasing big-name schools, and the outside image of success without understanding what really comes with it.
I chose the University of Houston for my graduate year because I wanted to pitch. I wanted innings. I wanted to be in the circle and make an impact.
After 4 years of college, I finally let go. I stopped chasing perfection. I stopped blaming myself. I stopped making excuses. I got into the best shape of my lifeālosing nearly 30 pounds, turning that weight loss into strength, and trusting my process.
I took the pressure off because I knew my graduate year was my last time stepping into that circle. I wanted to leave with no regretsāand I did.
2022 was my best year:
Named to the NFCA All-Region Central Region Team
Posted career-bests across nearly every statistical category:
36 appearances
20 starts
7 complete games
127.0 innings pitched
64 strikeouts
2.54 ERA
11 wins
Led the pitching staff with the most wins (11)
Earned the win in Houstonās upset over #18 UCF
First Cougar to record a win in every game of a three-game series
Second most pitches on the team (2,085),
one of only two pitchers to throw 2,000+ pitches on the 2022 season including a team-high 157 pitches in 9.0 innings against Boise State
I may not have played at the biggest schools in the country, but I pitched against the best teams in the countryāand I competed.
Thatās what pitching is. Not perfection. Competing. One pitch at a time. š„
