One day I’m 18, finishing high school without any plans for life, and now I’m 60 and find myself looking back at 32 years as a physical therapist and 22 years as a small business owner. How did that happen? I am living a strong, healthy and happy life. I have a great family with so many good friends, young and old.
When I was 20 and directionless, I met a career counselor who helped guide me to the fitness world. My only real requirement back then? I didn’t want to wear a suit and tie. In 1986, the world still dressed a bit more conservatively and that was a thing. Now, I own a gym and wear shorts and a tee shirt virtually every day.
Being in the health and fitness world has helped me stay young, along with good genes. I am blessed and very thankful for all that has been passed down to me. I eat well (not perfect), I sleep well (mostly), but I work consistently to stay healthy and positive.
I have preached for so long that News Year’s resolutions are stupid – why not start today or tomorrow? I have always seemed to live this way; working on the smaller goals every day and resetting as I go along, focusing on the positive instead of the negative. Habits are formed over time, so make them good ones (and replace the bad ones with the good).
Thank you to my friends, family, and the community that’s grown around this gym and made it so special. 60 years later, still learning, still moving… and still not wearing a suit.
