Compassion is something we offer freely to so many others but rarely give ourselves.
When you make a mistake, or you perhaps when you look in the mirror do you say to yourself, "You have been through a lot. You have been doing so well, take a deep breath, we are going to get through this."
OR, when you make a mistake or in the simple act of looking in the mirror do you say, "Wow, you have really messed up this time. Even when you try really hard it seems like things just don't work out for you. Why can't you get your crap together and stop making these mistakes? Why can't you take care of yourself better?"
Which one do you think expresses self-compassion?
Which one do you think is the proven way to move forward and make positive changes after a setback or mistake?
So many of us beat ourselves up about what we don't do, haven't done, or what we wish we could do better.
As you approach your health and fitness goals this year, start with compassion. Treating your body like a dear friend is one of the best ways to get stronger!
Here's an excellent resource list to improve your self-compassion.
Be kind to yourself.
You are truly a miracle.
There's no one who can claim your beauty.
