🏆 Player of the Week is Here! 🏆
We had so many deserving candidates this week! Our boys and girls continue to show tremendous effort, dedication, and passion for the game, making the selection process more difficult than ever.
This week's Players of the Week are Mallory, Jack, Lilly, and Bodhi! 🎉⚽
Congratulations to all four players on this well-deserved recognition!
🎖️Check out what their coaches had to say about their outstanding performances below.
⚽️Mallory⚽️
Mallory has been the most consistent with her effort in training and in games. She does whatever it takes to stop a player from scoring. Many times, she will get pushed down or knocked over when defending a scoring opportunity. Every game she gives her absolute best effort. Mallory never accepts her accomplishments as good enough. She is always looking for ways to get better and improve. Mallory also is the most encouraging player on the team. She also is the best friend to have for someone on the team since she will stand up for her friends and encourage anyone that is feeling down.
⚽️Jack⚽️
Jack Dudzinski is one of the most consistent and dependable players on our team. As our center defensive midfielder, he plays a critical role in disrupting opposing attacks, consistently preventing opponents from finding the time and space needed to create scoring opportunities. His positioning, awareness, and work rate allow him to control the flow of the game from the middle of the field.
Jack plays his position exceptionally well and never gives up on a play, regardless of the situation. He is one of our strongest defenders, regularly winning possession and shutting down dangerous attacks before they develop. Beyond his defensive contributions, Jack also excels at controlling the midfield and creating quality scoring opportunities for his teammates through smart distribution and excellent decision-making.
His consistency, determination, and impact on both sides of the ball make him an invaluable part of our team’s success!
⚽️Lilly⚽️
Lilly "Hammer" is a player who exemplifies the values that Cottage Grove United strives to develop in its athletes. While Lilly continues to make an impact on the field as an outside back, outside wing, and striker, what stood out most this week occurred during a training session.
Following a friendly competition between two groups of her fellow players, the losing team was assigned a half-lap run. As Lilly's team headed toward the sideline for water, Lilly chose a different path. She jogged to the halfway point of the lap and encouraged her teammates as they ran by, offering each player a high five and words of support. It was a simple gesture, but one that demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, leadership, and care for her fellow teammates.
Moments like these help build a positive team culture and reflect the character traits that Cottage Grove United hopes to instill in its players both on and off the field. In addition to her leadership and encouragement of others, Lilly has shown tremendous growth as an attacking player this season, contributing multiple goals and continuing to expand her impact in the offensive third.
⚽️Bodhi Yetter⚽️
Bodhi had an outstanding tournament weekend, stepping up in a huge way for our team as goalkeeper. During our first game, he made countless saves that kept us in the match and gave our team the chance to compete until the final whistle. His fearless diving, quick reactions, and willingness to put his body in front of the ball made a tremendous impact all weekend long.
He continues to learn, improve, and work hard every time he steps on the field. Whether he’s protecting the goal or playing as a strong defensive presence on the pitch, he consistently gives maximum effort and helps his teammates succeed.
We’re proud of your hard work and determination. Keep up the great work, Bodhi!
