Saco River Swimming Bringing water safety and swimming education to Mt. Washington Valley. ARC Lifeguard
Certified Level 2 in the Swim Whisperers® Program - Adaptive Aquatics Hi!

Certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and licensed American Red Cross provider. My name is Robina. I am the owner and sole swim instructor of S**o River Swimming. Originally from the NH Seacoast, I moved with my family to Conway, NH in 2023. I'm excited to bring swim lessons, coaching, and water safety instruction to the Mt. A little about me:

I have been a swimmer my entire life.

I grew up accompanying my mom while she taught swim lessons in backyard pools. When she began coaching, I eventually joined the Portsmouth Swim Team and swam with them competitively throughout my youth. I continued to swim in college at the University of Puget Sound where I specialized in mid-distance backstroke. After moving back to NH, I joined the Great Bay Masters swim team and regularly swam with them until our move north. Water Safety is extremely important to me. I started lifeguarding for the City of Portsmouth at 15 and began teaching American Red Cross swim lessons the following year. I have been involved with water safety instruction and coaching ever since. In 2011, I started coaching with the Portsmouth Swim Team. My coaching experience led me to an assistant coaching position with the Portsmouth High School swim team and a seasonal head coaching position with the Surf Club in Rye, NH. I have learn-to-swim educational experience and competitive swim coaching experience with all ages from infants to adults. In 2025, I received certification for adaptive aquatics as well. It'll be slow to start, but my goal is to eventually be able to meet the needs of the region with year-round instruction from youth swim lessons to triathlon and open water swim training. Please feel free to reach out with any interest or questions! Group lessons are provided year-round and I am working on incorporating more time for private lessons. Rip currents are responsible for the majority of lifeguard rescues at ocean beaches. 🛟

If you or someone else gets caught in one: don't fight it.
Swim parallel to shore until you're out of the current, then swim back in at an angle.
Knowing what to do before you're in the water can save your life.

Water Safety Wednesday: Blow up toys can be fun but do not replace the need for adult supervision! Inflatable rafts, rings, water wings, and floats are NOT safety devices. They have no safety requirements and can fail. In fact, they can lead parents to have a false sense of security which can actually increase drowning risk. That calm-looking channel between the waves? It might be a rip current — and it's one of the ocean's most dangerous hidden hazards. 🌊

If you or someone you love gets caught in one:
👉 Don't fight it. Swim parallel to shore.
👉 Wave for help if you need it.
👉 Stay calm — panic uses energy you need.

Knowing what to do before you're in the water can save your life. Share this with your beach crew this summer. 💙

Water Safety Tip: Always remove pool toys after swim time.

Toys left in or around the water can attract curious kids back to the pool when no one’s watching—creating a serious drowning risk. A quick cleanup helps prevent accidents and keeps your pool area safe.

Water safety is SO important, especially in our region with abundant access to lakes and rivers, and no lifeguards! In American Red Cross lessons, we work on swim skills that promote safety, lifelong skills, and a love for the water 🏊🏼‍♀️. We also discuss water safety topics and what to do in emergency situations 🛟🐳
