Thank You for an Awesome Cage 52 Softball Live AB Day!

We want to give a huge THANK YOU to all of the athletes and families who came out and competed at our recent Cage 52 Softball Live ABs.

The energy, effort, and competitiveness throughout the sessions were outstanding. Players stepped into the box ready to challenge themselves, pitchers attacked hitters with confidence, and catchers led the field with toughness and leadership.

These live reps are where real growth happens — learning how to adjust, handle pressure, and compete in game-like situations. It was awesome to see athletes supporting each other while still bringing that competitive edge every pitch.

We’re proud of the work being put in and excited to continue building a strong softball culture at Cage 52.

More opportunities to get live reps are coming soon… stay ready.

Thank you again for trusting Cage 52 with your development.

Coach Webbs thoughts….

“Here’s What I Know About the First Two Weeks of Live ABs”

I’ve coached this game at all levels. I’ve seen high end draft picks fizzle out, and late-round guys carve out 10-year careers. The difference early on? It’s rarely talent.

It’s awareness.

The first two weeks of live at-bats are where the real season begins. Velocity is real. Breaking balls have intent. Pitchers are competing. And hitters finally get honest feedback.

If you’re not journaling during this window, you’re missing one of the biggest development opportunities of the year.

Here’s why:

The game speeds up — your memory slows down.
After a round of live ABs, most players think they remember what happened. They don’t. Write it down.
• What did the pitcher try to do to you?
• How did you get attacked when behind?
• What did you swing at that you shouldn’t have?

Baseball rewards detail.

Patterns show up fast.
In 10–14 days, tendencies are exposed.
• Are you late to velocity?
• Are you expanding with two strikes?
• Are pitchers living glove-side on you?

If it’s written, you can adjust. If it’s not, you repeat it.

Confidence comes from preparation, not hype.
When a player steps in the box knowing:
“I’ve seen this look.”
“I’ve handled this pitch.”
“I know my adjustment.”

That’s earned confidence. And it comes from notes, not vibes.

The best hitters I’ve coached were elite observers.
They tracked bullpens.
They charted their own ABs.
They wrote down what worked and what didn’t.

They didn’t rely on coaches to spoon-feed adjustments they owned their development.

Here’s a simple structure I give my guys:

After every live round (practice or in-game) write:
• Pitch types seen
• Counts you struggled in
• Your best swing of the day (why?)
• One adjustment for tomorrow

That’s it. Simple. Repeatable. Powerful.

The first two weeks of live ABs can either expose you…
Or educate you.

The choice is whether you’re just showing up —
or studying the game.

The pen and notebook might be the most underrated tools in your bag.

Compete. Reflect. Adjust. Repeat.
