After the 15th year of Battle at the Border, we are stepping away as the directors of the Battle at the Border Tournament.
For the past eight years, we have had the privilege of organizing and running this event, and it has truly been an honor. We are incredibly grateful to Joe Scheid and Sara Rzepka for entrusting us with the tournament when they handed it over to us 8 years ago. Their confidence in us allowed this event to continue growing while providing valuable support for our BATS softball program.
To all of the coaches, teams, umpires, volunteers, vendors, food trucks, and families who have been a part of Battle at the Border over the years—thank you. Your support, dedication, and passion for the game have made this tournament what it is today. Watching thousands of athletes compete and creating an event that so many teams looked forward to each year has been incredibly rewarding.
As we close this chapter, we do so with immense gratitude and pride in everything Battle at the Border has become. We are excited to see the tournament continue to thrive under the leadership of our new tournament director, Kim Reichard, and new umpire assigner, Jim Fitrakis. We know they will do a wonderful job carrying on the tradition and continuing to make this tournament a special experience for everyone involved.
Please join us in welcoming Kim and Jim to their new roles, and be sure to follow the Battle at the Border page as they take over management of both the tournament and the page.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for an unforgettable eight years. It has been a privilege to serve this amazing softball community, and we will always be grateful to have been part of the Battle at the Border tradition.
