It's been a few days, but we promise we did not forget about all of our new CBA champions who claimed a title earlier this month!
We concluded another fantastic season back on the 12th with an action-packed Championship Sunday at QCS. Thank you to all the players who took the ice with us during the winter season and the fans who came to cheer them on!
Rec B Division - The Enginerds (Red) recaptured the top spot in Rec B after an extremely close battle with defending champs Liz & Friends. Both teams were held scoreless for the majority of the game, but Grant Lawrence flipped in the GWG via a scrappy play behind the net and a well-placed backhand. Final Score 1-0 Enginerds!
Rec A Division - The Abomination (Black) defended their title and keeps their franchise playoff win % at 100! Their finals match-up against Purple Reign ended with a 4-0 victory, but was played much closer on the ice than the score would suggest. The game entered halftime tied at 0, but once the dam broke for Purple they couldn't stop the bleeding. Kyle Kaminski's PP goal right off the 2nd half face-off was the first domino to start the party!
Competitive Division - Punishment (Black) and Killa Beez booked themselves an unintended double-header by wrapping up the regular season against each other in the afternoon and then facing off in the ship to end the night. Killa Beez handed them their only loss of the regular season in Game #1, but as the saying goes, it's very hard to beat a good team twice! These teams were so evenly matched it took nearly 9 minutes of empty net OT to break the tie, but after several close calls for both teams, a well-timed poke check from Jeremy Hase landed right in the lap of Caleb Stilp who found the net from beyond the blue line for our final GWG of the night. (Celebratory dive might need some work tho)
