We busted out the camping gear and did it old school, slept in a tent in the parking lot Friday night after practice. Race Gods were appeased but we needed a little more. Saturday we had Club Race 3 at SoCal QMA. There was a driver that didn't make it so Johnny had the opportunity to jump into Sal Rose's SrAnimal Afco. He tried it out Friday night and the car looked great. Super smooth and he was pretty fast. Raceday came and he was the fastest car on the track. He had to go to the back early for finishing off a spinner. Well, he came through like a hot knife through butter. Ran right back up to the leader. Stalked the leader for about 5 laps then started to work the pass at the end of the race for the win.......VAPOR LOCK!!!!!! Fell back to finish 4th. Johnny doesn't regularly race SrAnimal anymore. That's his brother's car now, and it was his first time in that car with only one practice session. The boy can sure wheel. I've always wanted to put him someone else stuff, to see how he'd run, and he sure as hell did not disappoint. He is always available to step into someone's car if needed, or if you have a good car and you want to win races........let us know.
We were hoping to get the boys to race together in SrAnimal but Jace's brakes started leaking in the hotshoot before the heat race so we were done for the day with a scratch....no points for the day.
Johnny was also able to finish 2nd in WF and 3rd in The 160. Not a terrible weekend but could have been better.

We want to thank The Irwin Clan for their always appreciated contribution to our cause and thank all the families that donated some of their used tires to help keep us racing. Our budget is NIL, so every little thing we can get helps. We'll be back next month for Club Race 4 on Dad's birthday weekend. See you then.

Yesterday was a long day at The Ernie Bose World Record Race at . Johnny brought her home for a 2nd place finish in his FIRST RACE, behind a Seasoned Novice who broke the Track Record earlier in the day. We couldn't be anymore proud of him and all the Novice Drivers. All of the Novice Graduates took home their for completion of Novice Training.

Oh yeah, their first race together and they went Green to Checkered with NO CAUTIONS!!! THAT'S UNHEARD OF!!! They all lined up with zero issues and quickly went green. The whole track was buzzing about it. Way to go kids. It's a testament to how hard this Novice Class worked together and the Leadership of their Novice Trainer Russell Medina from Medina Motorsports. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Best Novice Trainer ever. Thanks to everyone who has been there to support these kids. It's only just begun.

Soooo we were planning on retiring from Quarter Midgets. After a short 6 months we missed the life too much. Life on the other side of the fence isn't what it's cracked up to be. So we did what anyone who was contemplating retirement does....bought another car. Yes, you heard right. We bought another car. Crazy thing about this car is it has a history with Pops. This was Harrison Burton's old Quarter Midget. Pops had the pleasure of promoting QM's with this very car out front of AutoClub Speedway the day Harrison Burton won his Xfinity race there. We stuffed our WF in it and went racing again.
We had our season opener at SoCal Quarter Midget Association yesterday. It was a hot one for March. Johnny running Lt160 and LWF. Johnny was Johnny, the kid can wheel. It was our first race of the year. He hasn't been IN A CAR since Sept. Pretty good day to knock off the rust and learn after 36 races, the WF needs to be refreshed. He will be definitely be making a run for the Championship and probably, as always, one of the cars to beat at SoCal.
Jace running SrAnimal. Jace hasn't been in a "race" for almost a year. You wouldn't have guessed it by the way the kid wheeled it. Jace is hungry. He made a small mistake on a restart but learned what to do and showed it on the very next restart. He was up to second at one point. The car was good, but we know it's better and know how to get it there. I'd be looking for Jace to be up on that podium this year.
