***AFRICA RISING EXCLUSIVE***

A few days ago the story broke that South Africa’s Lisa Bone (Cycle Nation Enza Construction) has signed a two year deal with UCI WORLD TOUR team EF Pro Cycling ❤️🇿🇦

She is only the third African woman to sign on a World Tour team! It is a historic moment for African cycling, and we sat down with her after a successful showing by her and all at Cycling South Africa at the recent African Conti Champs

Have a listen to our latest Africa Rising Cycling podcast with this exciting young rider to learn more about her, her idols, her dreams, how she got them and more!

Some great results across the CAC Africa Cycling Championship last week but the headlines belong to the male and female riders of Cycling South Africa who turned up and raced as drilled teams, and won the major medals of the event! 🏆🇿🇦🌍

“They came, they saw, they conquered.”

Domestique has a comprehensive overview - with interviews - by our friend Jeremy Ford of the Elite/U23 Men’s and Women’s Road Races this past weekend… 👍🌍

🇿🇦 South Africa storms Kenya and takes 13 medals at the African Championships

The Mauritian Cycling Federation share a film of how chaotic the ITT course really was at the CAC African Cycling Championships. Cows, motos, pedestrians and we saw some goats in the Road Race almost take out the leader.

Normal or do the organisers need more police or marshals…

Doing a deep dive on ProCyclingStats of the top 15 riders in today’s Men’s Elite & U23 Road Race, we spotted a fascinating data point:

Of the top five, only Callum Ormiston was on a UCI team in 2026: the Joyrun&Hurricane Continental Cycling Team

Looking forward to 2027, we broke the story that Neriah Meunier Sow 🇸🇳 has now signed for Team BIKE AID for 2027, and we understand that Awet Aman 🇪🇷, Anes Riahi and Mohamed Amine Hamzaoui 🇩🇿 have got deals for 2027 (TBC) but these riders have no 2027 team right now:

🇲🇦 Driss El Alouni (23)
🇪🇷 Hebron Berhane (23)
🇺🇬 Charles Kagimu (28)
🇪🇷 Merhawi Kudus (32)
🇷🇼 Shemu Nsengiyuma (28)
🇷🇼 Samuel Niyonkuru (23)
🇺🇬 Paul Miiro (18)
🇺🇬 Shafik Mugalu (21)

We hope some of these talented young riders are able to get a 2027 team after showing their abilities in today’s race.

If you know of any teams with gaps, all their data is on PCS

Big congratulations to South Africa’s Callum Ormiston for the Men’s Elite Road Race win today at the 2026 African Continental Cycling Championships 🏆🇿🇦

A major focal point of this event is the performance of the U23 riders as it is a chance for them to show what they have to offer professional teams in a combined race with the more experienced Elite riders, and wow! Did one rider do that today….

Young Neriah Meunier Sow representing the Fédération Sénégalaise de Cyclisme just won the U23 jersey - the first time any rider from his country has ever been on an Africa Champs podium 🏆🇸🇳🌍

Neriah recently signed with our friends at the well established UCI Team BIKE AID for the 2027 season and we are so excited to see him race across Europe, Africa and Asia with this exciting young man!

BIKE AID are one of the true long-term supporters of young African cyclists and we are proud to know them. Among their 30 UCI races in 2026 - including the Lloyds Tour of Britain - they raced the Tour du Rwanda 🇷🇼 and the Tour du Bénin in Africa 🌍🇷🇼🇧🇯

The future is bright for this young man from West Africa, and we think he is the only West African male on a UCI professional team! 👏🌍

Race safely is an issue that seems to be a major issue from the top of the sport to the bottom worldwide…

Glad everyone is safe, could have been much worse….
