OK, OK. This post isn’t about Pike National Forest... or our local Pikes Peak outdoor community. But it is about local PP community in general. This post is an ode to Community Partnership Family Resource Center commitment to our local regions well-being. Insert their Smokin the Ute Pass Summit - BBQ Contest & Fundraiser I was fortunately able to join in on. To all the pitmasters, Paradox Brewery & the public in general supporting the fun this past Sunday, BRAVO! I'm still stuffed from the dessert! 👣😉

A very constructive day of local trail maintenance South of Pikes Peak on Rampart Reservoir. The leader of Teller Trail Team , Chris G. had us do some much needed 'corridor cleaning' for a couple miles ( got to MTB in!) on the 700 # trail on the South perimeter. TTT's next gig is up on the Avenger Open Space Woodland Park Community on Aug 29th. U should check it out !!! 👣😉

** Pikes Peak - Did you know. #32 **

• The wild raspberry in Pike National Forest can found at roughly 9,000 feet in dry creeks and gullies?
• Named Rubus Idaeus strigosus. (Wild Raspberry), Rosaceae (Rose Family). ‘Rubus’ is Latin for red while ‘Idaeus’ is after a mountain near the ancient city of Troy.
• In normal years, these are ready to eat by late Aug, early Sept. Due to early blooming (where the blossoms got stunted) and the drought, we have a very cruddy(small berries) early season of picking. Ugh.

The strawberries are non-existent (last pic). Double Ugh.

You might want to get up to your favorite patch soon. Although the perennial root system sends up new canes (see pics) that may bloom in the same year. I’m not sure if a second session will happen for these. Maybe there’s a smart person out there that can confirm or deny that statement??? 👣🙄

Another Bronc Day wrapped up in Green Mountain Falls, Colorado for PPBBH. Always a joy to bring smiles to the lil (and big) kids. Although I have great footage from my pixie bike, this pic sent to me sums it up... Although I'd love to see any pics from the Rubber Ducky racetoo! The lil' boy that gave me a wet rock from the stream as a 🎁 during the race...THANK YOU ! 👣😉 I'll see ya' at 'YULE DAYS' in December! 🎄

Don't be fooled by PPBBH poor rubber ducky training. We still plan on flexing ten-fold up in Green Mountain Falls, Colorado during Bronc Day festival this weekend. Come at me lil' tikes !
