Best of luck to Johan, Micah, Lachlan, and Eva as they travel to Chicago this weekend to represent the GLA at the Midwest Select Games!

All four players were selected to the GLA All-Star Team, made up of some of the top players competing in National 1 (N1) and ECNL Regional League. They will compete against other select teams from across the Midwest!

This is also an id2 identification event, with Youth National Team scouts in attendance looking to identify talented players for potential national team opportunities! 🇺🇸⚽️

We are extremely proud of all four of you for earning this opportunity! Keep working hard, making us proud, and showing everyone what Lightning SC is all about!

The sky is the limit, kiddos⚡️💚💛!!!

Racism should never have a place in sports, especially at the youth level.

It is disappointing that what should have been a fun and competitive weekend was overshadowed by negativity and hateful behavior from parents. No coach, player, or family should ever have to feel disrespected, targeted, or unwelcome because of their skin color or ethnicity.

Soccer is the world’s game, and it should be a place where people of every nationality, background, and skin color can come together through their shared love of the sport. At Lightning SC, we take great pride in the diversity of our coaching staff and player pool, bringing together individuals from different backgrounds and cultures. We believe every player, coach, and family deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, both on and off the field.

Despite the negativity, we remain incredibly proud of our players and the hard work, commitment, and dedication they have shown throughout the fall season. They continue to represent the Lightning family with pride, and that is what matters most.

This fall, our teams have continued to excel at the local, regional, and national levels, competing across local leagues, the Great Lakes Alliance (GLA), and the National 1 league. We are building something special, and we have no intention of slowing down anytime soon!

We stand for development, respect, unity, and excellence. We will continue to let our work on the field speak for itself.

GO LIGHTNING💚💛!

Congratulations to our U10, U12, and U14 teams on winning their respective 1st Division regular fall seasons🥇!

We are incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication, and commitment these players have shown throughout the season. Having all of our teams finish at the top of their tables is a testament to the culture we are building as a program!

The work isn’t finished yet! Best of luck to all of our teams as they compete in their postseason tournaments tomorrow. Go out there, compete, and represent Lightning SC with pride!

GO LIGHTNING💚💛!!!

Our 2026 USL Summer Season has officially come to an end! ⚡️

We wrapped up the summer with a fun competition day, giving our players one last chance to compete, have fun, and enjoy being together before the season came to a close.

A few of our players also had the opportunity to scrimmage the Canton South Boys Soccer team following their youth clinic. We appreciate Canton South for having us and giving our players another great opportunity to compete.

Thank you to every player and family who made this summer such a success. Your commitment, support, and enthusiasm made it an unforgettable season, and we’re excited to continue building together.

Now it’s time to shift our focus to the fall season, which kicks off this weekend. Let’s get to work💛💚⚡️

For just over a year, our U12 Elite won every game they played across all competitions — a run built on hard work, growth, and a commitment to getting better every day. 💚🖤💛

This week, they traveled to take on Columbus Crew Academy in a preseason matchup to prepare for our upcoming USL Youth season. The result was our first loss in over a year, with Crew Academy earning a hard fought 3-2 victory in a game that was tight from start to finish.

If we’re gonna lose, we’re glad it was against such a high-level opponent. Crew Academy showed our players the level of soccer IQ, decision-making, and intensity that can be reached at this age.

A weekday noon kickoff isn’t always easy for parents to make, but the quality of the match made it well worth the time taken off work to come support these players👏.

We’re looking forward to starting our winning streak back up this summer in USL Youth and continuing to push this group forward. We’ll be looking for a rematch in a few months when Crew Academy is back in season!

With two penalties and a red card impacting the match, Lightning’s lone goal wasn’t enough to secure a result against Leal United.

The boys battled through adversity and will look to bounce back as they prepare for a rematch against Leal this Sunday. 👊⚡️

🏅 Man of the Match: Ben

The center back was a brick wall in the back line, blocking multiple shots from the opposing side while keeping the defense organized and composed throughout the match.

💜 The Lightning SC family stands together. 💜

One of our own soccer moms, Jennifer Collier-Nelson, is currently battling cancer, and we are asking our soccer community to come together to support her and her family during this fight.

A Cancer Benefit Dinner will be held on July 11th from 5PM–8PM at Louisville Eagles with food, drinks, raffle baskets, and a 50/50 raffle. We would love to see as many members of our community there as possible to show Jennifer that she is not fighting alone.

If you are unable to attend but would still like to support, donations can be made by reaching out to:

📞 Debbie Nelson: 330-309-3350
📞 Megan Sheehan: 330-428-6891

You can also donate directly through Cash App:

Our men’s team fell 3-2 at home in a hard-fought battle against the undefeated Ohio/Indy South Conference Champions from last spring. The boys showed tremendous fight throughout the match, taking the lead twice before a late penalty kick proved to be the final blow.

🏅 Man of the Match: Wes

The captain was finally moved back into an attacking role and made the most of the opportunity, scoring two class goals to put Lightning ahead on both occasions. His leadership and quality in front of goal kept the boys battling until the final whistle.
