The kid who stays after practice.
Everyone claps for the state champ. Nobody claps for the kid who stays 20 minutes after practice.
He’s not the most talented. He doesn’t have the slickest single leg. He might not even be varsity yet.
But when the room clears out and the lights are half off, he’s still drilling. Still shadow wrestling. Still asking a coach for “one more go.”
That kid is building something nobody else can see.
The scary part? In 3 years, that “average” kid is usually the one breaking hearts in March.
Because effort compounds. Quietly. Violently.
And the kid who leaves first every day? He usually stays average.
Which one is your athlete?
