Monument Beach Sportsman's Club MBSC is a private, not for profit Sportsman's Club. Events that are open to the public include Archery and Trap which hold weekly shoots.

Unfortunately the property is covered in snow. The General Assembly on Wednesday and the Friday night dinner are canceled. Please check your email for snow clearing. Plows, snow blowers and shovels are needed. Help with snow removal will be required.

TRAP
well, the wind isn't blowing and it is not snowing. A little cold on the field. The trap field will be open this morning for people to shoot. Bring a jacket and gloves.

WEATHER ADVISORY. (TRAP RANGE)

On Saturday at 9:00am, the temperature will be 10 degrees and a -8 degrees with the wind chill. The trap range will be closed.

Gene M. Lafond Obituary

Gene M. Lafond, of Plymouth, passed away on December 26, 2025, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. He was seventy-five years old.

Gene was born in Boston on June 14, 1950, to the late Germain W. and Katharine (Berry) Lafond. He was a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology and went on to enjoy a distinguished fifty-five–year career as a Computer Engineer and IT Specialist at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in Plymouth, which later became Boston Edison, then Entergy, and then Holtec International. Following his retirement, Gene returned to Holtec International, where he continued his work as a contractor.

Gene was a member of the Monument Beach Sportsman Club in Bourne and the Camera Club. He was an avid animal lover, especially fond of his cats.

Gene was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ann Marie (Gutowski) Lafond, and his son, Mark Lafond. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle L. Lafond of Plymouth, his brother, Roy Lafond, and his wife, Linda of New Jersey.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 150 Court Street, Plymouth. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bonaventure Church, 803 State Road, Plymouth (Manomet). Burial will follow at Blue Hills Cemetery, 700 West Street, Braintree.

Memorial donations in Gene’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741, or online at www.cancer.org.

On Saturday, December 13th, MBSC had their annual Christmas Party. This years theme was Christmas at the Circus. The party was a great hit! Thank you to all of the volunteers for making it happen. A big shout out to Ally Lauzon and the hard work she put in once again!!!
