On Friday September 8th, we will remember Scotty Landis with a hero WOD at CrossFit Bourne.
Scotty was a regular member of our 7am class when he was not overseas serving his country.

Scott "Scotty" Lands, 34, of Hanson, Massachusetts, was killed in a plane crash on August 24, 2018. Scotty took off that afternoon to spread the ashes of his father Richard, who passed away earlier in the month, when his plane experienced mechanical failure.

Scotty was a Blackhawk (UH-60) pilot and instructor assigned to A-Company of the 3rd Battalion, 126th Aviation Regiment at Joint Base Cape Cod. He had been awarded with medals for his service in Iraq and Afghanistan, had received the Air Medal twice, and had earned several other commendations. He was deployed to Kosovo in January and had returned home to Hanson on leave to be with his father in his final days.

Scotty is survived by his wife, Staci; and son, Jack.

One of the biggest misconceptions about CrossFit is that people think it’s all intensity, too hard, or they can’t do it.

The reality is CrossFit gyms are full of laughter, joy, inspiration, and smiles. It’s a place where you get to do things you never thought possible. And the emphasis on community means you get to experience it with friends.

Things got a little “unstable” Friday afternoon as a few of us have been working on improving our lives and our fitness!

By using hanging bands in our weight lifting routine, we can create a more dynamic and challenging workout. The instability of the bands forces your body to engage more muscles, helping to improve your overall strength and stability. 💪

Not only does the hanging band technique help you lift heavier weights, but it can also improve your form and reduce your risk of injury. The bands provide a helpful guide for your movements, helping you maintain proper alignment and control. 🙌

We see you over there, one foot dangling over each side of the fence. You're sitting smack-dab in the middle, stuck in between the hesitation you feel about trying something completely new and the excitement you feel when you fast forward yourself a year from now.

You can imagine in your head how you'll look just a month or two from now. Maybe you've noticed that people who get in some exercise several times a week seem to be more positive. And you've mathematically figured out that an hour really only equates to 4% of your day!



But perhaps you're still wavering on whether to take the plunge. Realize that every single person who is currently a member at the gym has been in your exact same shoes.



"What if I'm the slowest?"

"What if I can't finish the workout?"

"What if I don't know how to complete one of the movements?"

Well, so what? Our coaches have answered each and every one of those questions before, and the response is always the same. This is all about YOU and the goals you have for yourself. As long as you push yourself to the limit whenever possible, and you strive to be just a tad bit better every time you walk into the gym, you will be just fine.
