Thrilled to announce that Windy Hill Compost, LLC and Goldie's Coffee & Goods have teamed up to make sure their amazing new coffee shop is keeping it green and composting with me! So thankful for Blake Asberry and Claire Asberry trusting Windy Hill Compost for their curbside composting needs. Stop in and grab a coffee, local baked goods, produce, and so many other amazing local products. I will also be at their "A Prairie Morning" event June 20th to get anyone else signed up for service or for free bucket loan to use a free site to compost food waste!

Meet our May Community Hero: Windy Hill Compost! With the 'fourth' of food waste diversion, they have prevented 48,000 pounds of food waste from entering our landfills—and counting.

Great info on the financial and environmental impact of wasted food

Wasted food is a financial and environmental bummer. It costs the average person $728 per year, and it amounts to about the same planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions every year as 42 coal-fired power plants.

While it took a few days to thaw out, I wanted to say thank you to everyone utilizing the free drop-off sites, this was the one at United Church of Christ of Atlantic, IA , and it was filled to the brim!
