Took this from a trusted mentor, it follows all the beliefs that we have and follow!!!!

Parents, if you have a younger goalkeeper, make sure your son or daughter is receiving age-appropriate training.

Too often, I see young keepers being trained as if they are already 6 feet tall or preparing for a college environment. Training should match the goalkeeper’s age, size, strength, and stage of development.

For goalkeepers age 13 and younger, the priority should be building strong fundamentals:
• Catch the ball whenever possible instead of pushing or slapping it away.
• Use proper footwork and multiple steps to get into position before diving.
• Lead with the hands instead of relying on unnecessary kick saves.
• Learn correct body shape, balance, and decision-making.
• Focus on technique before speed, power, or highlight-reel saves.

I continue to see these habits at college ID clinics and regional camps. Many of them begin because younger keepers are taught to keep the ball out of the net by any means necessary.

At the developmental level, conceding a goal is not the biggest problem. Repeating poor technique is.
Young goalkeepers should be taught the correct way to make the save, even if they occasionally concede while learning. Proper habits built early will prepare them to make more saves safely, consistently, and effectively as they grow.

As I reflect on today after attending # this weekend, more pics to follow, We appreciate Jill and Maria taking time out of their busy day at to spend time with us and got lucky to run into
This wouldn't have happened without IGCC when we met Jill and the relationship we have cultivated over the years.
We are so fortunate!!!!
