Ada County is presenting department budgets to the Board of Commissioners this week, and tonight at 5pm is your chance to weigh in during the public comment session. You can watch presentations live or on demand at the link below.
If you like knowing how your property tax dollars are determined, this is for you. Ada County elected officials and department heads are presenting their FY27 budgets to the Ada County Board of Commissioners this week. Officials will share what they’ve accomplished, the efficiency measures and innovative processes they use, and their plans and projects for the upcoming fiscal year. Even though Ada County collects property taxes, we do not keep all of that revenue. Interesting factoids to know and understand: Schools, cities and smaller taxing districts like cemetery and library districts and the highway district make up 76.4% of the taxes we collect and then distribute. The portion that goes to county functions is only 23.6% of the pie, and the lion’s share of those funds goes to public safety and courts.
